Later Medieval Standings September 28th

Division A has only one game remaining and it will not affect the standings. Congratulations to Rosedelio for winning a very competitive division. Also well done to TaBai for finishing second and Nosy_Rat for third place.

Division B is complete and congratulations to heidipie for winning the division and well done to Bagatrix1805 for finishing second and angusoborne for third place.

Division C has two games remaining and the final standings are still not clear.

We only have till the end of September 30th to finish these three remainings games so please be diligent to be fair to everybody.

Battlefield offered areas of rough ground in the centre of each deployment zone where both sides initially placed their medium troops. Italians relied on mounted Knights and City Knights as their main threat while Germans were strong in their centre with Dismounted Knights supported by a few Knights and Sergeants. Both sides advanced - Italians were more numerous and could afford to move some spear forward from the flanks while Germans concentrated with a powerful drive down the centre. Crossbows were fired by both sides causing casualties to the dismounted knights which helped Italians in the subsequent melees. Italian knights got peppered a couple of time by multiple missile units but held firm each time. Italians claimed the day as the German centre got bogged down trying to break the Italian centre and were caught on the flanks. Dismounted knights had to fight a raw Pavisier unit and Crossbow unit all the way to autobreak and their second line forces could not protect them from getting flanked for that length of time. Italian Knights had some destructive overcharges - Germans were failing a lot of cohesion tests and then getting charged by the knights, pretty impossible to recover from that. GG

Deeter (Lysimachid) defeats tmac11 )Roman) 2-43

Aside from killing my CnC early on, nothing went right for Rome. The map was bisected by river with rough hill just far enough away to deploy all the Lysimachid heavy infantry in the flats and loads of mediums in the rough. A long line of hills extended beyond the Roman flank that would hopefully screen a cavalry maneuver. Having lost the skirmisher battle, the Roman heavies charged into the waiting phalanxes but failed to disrupt them. It was there that the CnC fell leading the sole veteran pikes against the Roman CnC and some veteran principii. Eventually these were ground down while the cavalry defeated their Roman counterparts. Luck was clearly on the side of the Greeks. Good game.

anderarcos11 swept to victory well clear of the field with a 6-1 record. mcfcivo and frederic02 were a pretty close finish for 2nd and 3rd.

Division D
mh5064 is the champion of this division with 7 wins and 640 points. Very closely followed in 2nd by sunnyboy only 15pts behind. hscic and rockmanbob123 had good campaigns with 6 wins each. All new players did well in this league - sunnyboy in 2nd, Drudgep and Antivirt getting 4 victories each and Grimgrom involved in lots of close matches.
