Mystery of disappering heroes solved?

I´ve read several reports where people were suddenly missing heroes, but never was able to recreate the issue or experienced it myself.
Now i did and could pinpoint the problem.

Step by step:
1. Split a unit with a hero.

2. Merge the unit.

3. Hit undo. (i use the mouse to do it)


The hero moved from one halve of the unit to the other, the Flag on the unit disappeared.


At the end of the scenario the hero was gone.


I was not able to redo the excact steps to make it disappear again. I only noticed it missing at the start of the next scenario and went back to investigate.

I took the time to try and recreate the issue, bur with no success as well. I experimented with various heroes, player traits, scenarios and circumstances.

That said, I would agree it might something to do with splitting heroes one way or another. The only time this occurred to me in all the games was in a scenario with a split recon car suddenly losing a hero by the next mission. Hard to tell if I used an Undo back then, as it is not something I use that often (mostly for missclicks and to capture AAR screenshots when something interesting happens in the moment that I want to get an image of). My theory back then was that he got killed in action, but I had a few cases with a killed hero half of a unit and these just got back to the roster the next mission, so the theory that it is tied to splitting only seem much more viable. The only problem is that this seems to occur in some very niche circumstances if that's the case. Some script of function failing to triggers? Repeatable and quick use of Undo as I was trying to replicate this bug led to two crashes as I apparently overused the feature in quick succession, so it seems somewhat viable that this might have an impact.
