Re: WW2 ITALY:
The Axis Operations campaign I'd love to see, ideally split into three parts - first from Ethiopia and Spanish Civil War until about end of 1941 (Siege of Tobruk?), then one starting in 1942 and continuing until 1943, splitting into 2 possible paths depending on El Alamein, and finally a third one with a historical and fictional route. Would it sell? Probably not as well as regular German DLC and I guess if we ever see such a campaign it will probably be either akin to Frontlines (so a very limited scope covering a small section of the fighting, or for example the fate of the Italian forces on the Easter front?), or a slightly larger project, covering the events form start to finish with about 20+ missions, more like the main game approach.
It's posts like this one that keep me hoping for this, as the fact that we did now see a DLC from the Polish perspective, which was never done in the past. So fingers crossed, I'll keep on dreaming.

Re: WW2 ITALY:
For me, the most intriguing Italian "what if" of the early war is what if they had used their two airborne battalions (Libyan troops) to seize Malta on the day they declared war. Malta was undefended and with the port seized, Italy could have reinforced long before the British could respond from either Gibraltar or Egypt.

Re: WW2 ITALY:
"A Notable-Point!". If ever there is a PzC3... and if there is ever an... ["A" for Alternative] "A-Historical-Game-Option" for playing the Game... they could have or include a very-great mix of possible realistic outcomes for whatever transpires in the Game... meaning that "No-Two-Games" would ever be the same!. So!... you're great suggestion would very-well fit into that great mix of uncertainties... and if it actually did take place... it might actually result in... for instance then to make a tremendous difference in the outcome of the war in the North-African-Desert... meaning that "Rommel may now just actually have a real chance to Win!"... as now... most. if not all of his "Supplies and Reinforcements" would mostly likely come through to him without being unhindered by British Interventionlcharge62 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 12:36 am For me, the most intriguing Italian "what if" of the early war is what if they had used their two airborne battalions (Libyan troops) to seize Malta on the day they declared war. Re: WW2 ITALY:
PC3? If there is such a beast, I hope the devs are smart enough to realize that being able to use the escape key to close every main dialog EXCEPT for purchase/upgrade is boneheaded idea. /End rant
Good discussions on "what if" are few and far between. If the opportunity comes up, I'd love to participate.

More Specificity On "Alternate-GamePlay!":
To start with!... a recap from a previous post!.
[ "A-Historical-Game-Option" for playing the Game... they could have or include a very-great mix of possible realistic outcomes for whatever transpires in the Game... meaning that "No-Two-Games" would ever be the same!. ]
To now make this premise even "More-Interesting"...
...have the probability of these "Possible Alternate Outcomes"... to not be available in or for every Game. Which means that!... some kind of "Randomizer" would have to be built-in or included to be the initiator of determining what will or will not, or could be a... or the determining possible alternative opportunity for the change of an event. Then!... it would be up to the "Player" to make the final determination as to whether to act on this unexpected opportunity or to decline to take advantage of it.

Re: WW2 ITALY:
What you suggest is quite possible. I did coding as a modder for game about 10 years ago, and had similar plans to build in a network of what ifs to run at game start. My vision was to run the background "campaign" in two ways. 1. As a set of random variables set at game start. 2. Make all the variables available to players at game start. Players would set the ones they wanted to see play out. Any options not set by the player would have been randomized.
Another thought, one I tried to raise with PC2 developers and was shut down, is that the best, very best in every sense, what ifs are low energy. The more energy required to force a hypothetical situation, the more outlandish it is.
As I've state elsewhere, WWII was very nearly optimal, in every conceivable way, for the Allies. There were small events and non-events, with massive implications, that could have radically changed the outcome of the war. If someone wants to create the ultimate test of WWII history, look at low energy decision points.
