Div A

Deeter (Lysimachid) defeats Nijis (Meroitic) 39-60

The Meroitics deployed two large groups of defensive spearmen and bowmen in rough terrain linked by a line of close fighters and an elephant. Cavalry and another elephant supported their left. The Lysimachids marched against the right and center in force, leaving a screen to hold back the other flank. In this they were successful wiping out their targets before the enemy left could fully engage. Good game!

Here are the tables as they stand with less than a month to go. Still quite a few matches to finish, so plenty to play for.

Tyrones has his usual firm grip on Div 1, but second place is firmly up for grabs with several players in a good position and lots of points still to win and loose.

Div 2 is going to be close - every point counts, so make sure all those games are finished. Any one in the top six could win this

Division 2

angusosborne (Persian) defeats GraftMalt (Macedonian) 62-42

I didn't fancy attacking in this one and set up with medium foot hidden in two woods and hoplites and Immortals on a hill in between. I suggested we could reroll the map, but the Macedonians willingly attacked and while my mediums vigorously attacked the flanks the phalanxes smashed through the centre with ease. I was hoping the hoplites would stand up better, but had a couple of instances of panic in the initial impact and it was looking grim as the Macedonians got out to a good lead.

However in the final turn luck swung decisively my way. I had a series of rallies, swept up the last Macedonian lights, broke a phalanx on the flank and crucially a fragmented unit of Immortals facing a fragmented pike phalanx rallied and the pike broke when the Immortals charged in. This battle could easily have gone the other way if GraftMalt's luck had held.

I think I've failed to report a victory, my game against Nosferatu was a win for me, but it doesn't appear on my list of completed games anymore. Not sure how to proceed. It was win by 25 percentage points or a little more.

Gdod (Spartan) defeats carpenkm (Seleucid) 61/46

A game of flank attacks and rallies. Roman discipline finally turned the tide and robbed carpenkm of his game long advantage.

Nosferatu (Carthagian) defeats ulysisgrunt (Roman) by 43:74

As the full battle lines clashed, neither side advanced much from the initial clash, but the battle was decided by the superior Carthagian cavalry defeating their Roman counterpart and flanking the infantry.
