Re: Birgeria's new PZC units
I start a new pack called "what if 1946" of some French armored projects/prototypes, or mass produced examples. Many French early post WWII tanks designs were highly effected by German Panther and King Tiger tanks. Most of them have the very unique oscillated turret. I think it would be cool to have some of them in game.
Today's upload is a Lorraine 40t medium tank.

If there's any fantasy 1946/1947 scenarios, these prototypes can face the German E series, or Maus.bondjamesbond wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 12:02 am Great units as always but what kind of epic battle will these French tanks be in ? )

Re: Birgeria's new PZC units
One more heavy tank. AMX-50 Surblindé. This one was almost went into production stage, but the development of the early AT missiles and France joined NATO ended this work.

This tank has very strong armament. The turret mounted a 120mm SA-47 gun, more powerful than the 12.8cm gun in JagdTiger, and on the top of the turret, there is a 20mm autocannon can deal with both air and land targets.
Re: Birgeria's new PZC units
Besides those prototypes or even blueprints, here I upload one successful model. AMX-13 light tank, very famous across countries. I only prepare the early version, with a 75mm FL-11 gun. The late ones with 90mm and AT missiles are beyond our topic here.

Re: Birgeria's new PZC units
The very early production of AMX-13 were fitted with a M24 tank turret, given them a very interesting profile.

AMX-13 DCA is a SPAA prototype, with the same 12.7mm quad as in M16 MGMC.

Another SPAA prototype based on the AMX-13 tank. It's called DCA 40 because the weapon is one 40mm Bofors.

French torpedo bomber Bloch MB. 175T. This is the plane produced after the liberation of France. It is based on the early war MB.174, with a radar in the nose and two 20mm MG 151 on the wings. They only served for a few years and decommissioned in the early 1950s.

Re: Birgeria's new PZC units
I have a new project, about the French D.520 fighter under various flags. In game there are several but all are in the same camo pattern. So I decide to prepare some corrected unit icons. The first one is Free French air fleet. In 1944, their D.520s are only in training duties, but they still painted the white-black stripe on wings.

Re: Birgeria's new PZC units
Vichy French air force has several squadrons of D.520 fighters. Some of them were deployed in North Africa colonies. Here is the D.520 with desert camouflage pattern, defenders of Casablanca.

Italian D.520 with a corrected camo pattern. The Regia Aeronautica received about 60 from Germans since winter 1942. They used to defend the mainland Italy.

Re: Birgeria's new PZC units
The D.520 family is finished. The new project is the fighters of the South African Air Force. It is a easy task, all I did is just collect in game icons and replace the roundels and national insignia to SAAF color.
During the North African campaign, the SAAF equipped with British and later US aircraft, which include Gladiator, Hurricane (I and II), Spitfire V, Mohawk, Tomahawk II, and Kittyhawk I.
Today I upload three: Gladiator, Hurricane Mk.I and Hurricane Mk.IIB
