The Scots-Irish left defeated the Thracian right in the medium infantry fight, while the legionaries were unable to get into contact with the Irish refused right, which was on top of a ridge, in time to make any difference (and got a couple of absolutely appalling dice-rolls when they did).

I should have followed my own advice in my video... 'ignore the hill!" but it wouldn't have made much difference when my 33 point medium infantry get 64 POA on the second and subsequent rounds of combat compared to 100 POA for his 33 point mediums, and my repeated charges with heavy impact foot only ever disrupted his medium infantry once - it was more like his foot were the impact foot, with several of his charges causing disruption or fragmentation. Massed peltasts with their 50% swords are useless, they should be allowed to fall back without testing at least. Then there's the OP chariots, something needs to be done about them, they are too cheap. I hit one in the rear with heavy cavalry while the chariot was fragmented, and it didn't break, it just ran away, rallied, and was about to charge the flank of one of my units when the game ended.

I thought I'd won this game and then I had a massive collappse on my left, where heidipie had now taken the lead. Fortunately for me managed to rally a unit and my cavalry wing won the day.

A tough battle that could have gone either way. The Lombards were better overall, and better in open terrain (and there was lots of that) but we managed to drag their foot onto some of the patches of rough terrain while sending in the swarm against his cavalry. It helped that, when counting losses, each of his warbands was worth something like 1.5 of my units.

Morat Neapolitan 1443-1500 with Venetian beat Captainwaltersavage Order of St John 1450-1500: 63-56

Proper nailbiter. Order of St John advanced on a broad front: Neapolitans thought that they might be able to concentrate their forces onto the Order's left flank before the centre and the right arrived.

This very nearly didn't come off. I think with one more turn, a slightly different pursuit result (and slightly better RNG) the Order would have caught the Neapolitans in a vice. Very fortunate to come out of this ahead. Could very easily have gone the other way.

Morat Ostrogothic 493-561 + Germanic Foot Tribe 260-599 allies beat Najanaja Byzantine 551–578 : 63-42

On a battlefield beset with small woods, the Ostrogoths laid out mostly foot to the right and massed their horse on the left. After some initial reverses at the hand of Byzantine bows the Ostrogoth horse were able to break through and join the battle in the centre and on the right. Victory was only as a result of some really stubborn warbands, that held out much longer than they had any right to do allowing the horse to get them over the line.

Thanks to Najanaja for a hard fought battle that on another day might have swung very differently.
