Any beginner’s guide available?

Post by midgard30 »

Hi,

I’m looking for a kind of “medieval tactics for dummies”, specifically on starting formations, when to use them, how to advance troops, etc. Something with a more academic style than a video on how to use FoG2:M.

I searched the internet and youtube, but didn’t find anything satisfying, mostly stuff for Total War.

Thanks

A lot of interesting things, thanks a lot!

As a beginner of medieval warfare, I’m wondering if the default deployment of units in each scenario is good enough to start the combat right away? Does playing at higher difficulties require to optimize the deployment?

You can always play with default deployment. Or default army selection.
How much difference it makes is going to depend on the match up of terrain and armies. For example with horse archers on an open map it doesn't matter so much; on mixed terrain with a big hill in a critical position deployment will be more important.
