Birthday Wish: Panzer Corps Korea

Post by Thunderhog »

Been watching the Week by Week Korean War show by Indy and I'd love nothing more than a panzer corps based on the Korean War. Especially with the devs excellent alt history paths, I think it would be a very fun campaign.

Good idea. It could make a great cam IMO. I dunno if this will be done since it's outside WW2, but it's definately worth considering, I'd say.

There was a great mod for Order of Battle that had the Korean War. Sad that it was historical only with no deviation. Lots of modders seem to not like Alt-history in OoB all that much for some reason. Crossing my fingers I'll get a PzC game or one like it set in Korea.

what a great idea, this would be an easy DLC and a great tribute to a forgotten war. I would play this one.
Thanks

Most of the equipment used was ww2 vintage, so you wouldnt even need to create many new 3d models

I was in Washington 2 weeks ago, great place to visit. I went to the Korean war memorial, very moving, great images of the troops and every name of the fallen US troops. Here in the UK it is really a forgotten War.

It's a intriguing idea and I think it will be a logical evolution of the series if WW2 content gets explored to the level it gets stale. There would be indeed a good amount of model overlap, but still require more new ones than any DLC till date. What seems best is that it offers a good potential for mixing or branching fictional and historical scenarios. I would still prefer this to be more grounded and not just become People's General 2.0, as this would allow to be more narratively and mechanically focused.

I agree with you why make clones when you can make additional DLC about Korea )

Soviet Union in the Korean War - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_Un ... Korean_War
Though not officially a belligerent during the Korean War (1950–1953), the Soviet Union played a significant, covert role in the conflict. It provided material and medical services, as well as Soviet pilots and aircraft, most notably MiG-15 fighter jets, to aid the North Korean-Chinese army against the South Korean-United Nations Forces.

Material aid
Soviet military aid was instrumental to equipping both the North Korean and Chinese forces fighting in Korea.
The Soviet T-34/85 medium tank which was of great importance during the initial offensives by the Communist side when no US armour (particularly the M24 Chaffee light tank) or anti-tank rockets (such as the M9 2.36-inch Bazooka) could penetrate its heavy sloped armour.

The T-34 is a Soviet medium tank from World War II. When introduced, its 76.2 mm (3 in) tank gun was more powerful than many of its contemporaries, and its 60-degree sloped armour provided good protection against anti-tank weapons.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By April 1950, the Soviet Union had provided 63 of the North Korean Air Force's 178 aircraft, which until September 1950 proved highly effective against minimal South Korean air defenses (which was more heavily backed by US and UN air forces instead)
