Ridiculously close, head-on slugfest the entire battle, decided in the end by some autobreaks amongst the Roman auxilia and cavalry. Would have ended 57-60 if not for a cheaky rally on the end-turn resolution.

Great game and well played to gfs26, could have gone either way!

Even more close than the mirrored battle. This time it was my turn to get a bit of luck, just when a unit of light archers didn't take any loss (from missile fire) when a single man killed could mean the autobreak, and loss of the battle.

Great game, could have gone either way!

angusosborne (Vikings) defeats Mairtin (Breton) 54-29

We used both our map rerolls trying to get a balanced battlefield, but each map was progressively more and more crowded with difficult terrain. I think Mairtin made a better Breton general than I did, redeploying his whole force to the right to face sideways across the field. We ended up with a brutal fight across a gully between two hills, and with a bunch of spearmen squabbling in a forest, but eventually I got some medium foot around the flank, won the fight in the gully and snuck a cavalry unit through the disputed wood and into the Breton rear. Tough game!

Triarii with Dacians defeats tmac11 with Romans 44-15.

After a bit of too and fro the Roman left was eventually overwhelmed by Dacians moving through thick woods despite the Legio's success with an uphill attack against the poorer quality Dacian warbands.

This battle took place in the Arab desert. The Avars flanked and shot up what Arab cavalry there was before picking off isolated spearmen.
