General/Admiral dying in combat.

General/Admiral dying in combat.
I was under the impression that the mechanics for when and how a general or admiral on the winning side could get killed in combat went something like this.
Winning General/Admiral can only be killed in a large battle, but even in this case the odds of it happening are much lower than the odds of the losing general or admiral dying. I can't remember the exact percentages, but I'm sure I've seen them posted on the forum somewhere.
I recently experience the naval battle shown in the screen snip below, and I'm struggling to understand how this happens. If someone could explain it to me, I'd be grateful.
It is as it appears, 1 light warship vs a transport. The light warship wins as expected, but I'm not clear how the admiral dies.

You always have a tiny chance to lose a general in any battle, sorry.

Losing a great general in a very minor battle with major army against a very minor one isn't very realistic , and it happens too often in my personnal point of view.
Re: General/Admiral dying in combat.
True, it can perhaps be improved by changing the odds depending on the intensity of the battle indeed!

Re "Losing a great general in a very minor battle with major army against a very minor one isn't very realistic..." See Alexander, particularly in the Mallian campaign.

Agreed. It happens way too often, but with the game being effectively dead now I cannot see any further updates, even minor.kokkorhekkus wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 3:41 am Losing a great general in a very minor battle with major army against a very minor one isn't very realistic , and it happens too often in my personnal point of view.

It is dead when we say it is dead, not before
I do hope that we can return for one final massive patch for Empires once Kingdoms is released and operating smoothly.

So do we (at least I) hope - there are only a few hiccups left to fix. I can only wish you for Kingdoms to succeed, although considering the timesetting I'll stick with Empires; the deeper mechanics do look appealing however!
Do not fear decadence. Embrace it.

I believe your colleage said a final update was unlikely...I like your answer better. I like the ldea of end of the western empire/beginning of the Byzantine.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I happy with the game flow and gameplay loop how it is. You can make the game as easy or as difficult as you like. Modding support is awesome. I don't imagine you will add new major systems like spying at least through National or Regional Decisions to reveal the info for Ledger. But in case you do can add Spying related decisions:
1) Poisoning the well that destroys forage value of the region and has a chance to reduce affected stack effectiveness.
2) Chance to kill stack current assigned general.
3) Chance to frame that decreases their relationships by 10 with aligned nations.
4) Chance to decreases loyalty by 15 and increases Revolt risk by 5% for 2 turns.
5) Chance to damage wall during siege e.g. opening the gates temporarily or Trojan Horse
6) Chance to get small amount of gold and destroy random military building similar to Raid, but checked against the abstract chance not taking into account opponent garrison and present stack.
You can see that there is the risk that nothing happens since decisions occur before the army movement and if you didn't capitalize they can fix all those in a single turn - even frame by gifting. All those should be available only if 15 power aligned to potential stack or region.
One Quality of Life feature could be done. I mean there should be a display through the game map or ledger for all Needed AI resources per Region. You can only see Imported or Missing resources, but often trade is powered by pushing cheap resources down their throat when you are maxing out Commerce region Acumen.

Re: General/Admiral dying in combat.
yes you're right but your exemple with alexander is an assault on a city, not a field battle. Alexander can die at Arbeles or Issos, but not with an overrun of his army against 6 levy units...
Re: General/Admiral dying in combat.
I think everybody would agree that Kingdoms is released (and operating smoothly).
Is there any chance we get final massive patch for FOGE in 2024?
