Hi Sonja, First of all I want to congratulate you to this astonishing Mod! I always wished a Game I could play also the German Unification wars and the First World War but in Panzer Corps style. You did REALLY a masterpiece! This love to details, you really made sure this is not just a buggy Mod, but a REAL Must Have. My most profound thanks and compliments. I really loved the "unknown" battles in the Middle East and the Naval Campaign. Things I was always loocking for.

I've got a request: I'm an military historian and I will publish books not only about German military history, but in general. A topic I'm also very dedicated to is the History of the United States. But I want it also to be interactive. In other words: I have Let's Plays on my Youtube Channel and reference them in my book. For all Panzer Corps battles I use the Replay mode (I don't think people want to hear how long I'm stuck in deciding how to move). But the comments will follow in my book. Of course there will be also LPs recorded on my smartphone with Facecam and Comments but for Smartphone strategic games, nearly in the same style as Panzer Corps but American Civil War.

Now I've already asked Slitherine and they gave me the go ahead to use their game for my book. LPs for Panzer Corps are already on Youtube. But you as the author: I would really like to record my playing of your Mod Campaigns, Unification and WWI. There will be MANY battles. So you can imagine there will be many books (they are not really books, thinner but not like Magazines with felt 90% pictures and 10% text, but cice versa.). The name of the Book and my Channel.I didn't want to tell just for using this forum for advertising reasons. Of course, you can always ask for free copies of my book! Because your contribution for the timeline from 1864 until 1918 is much bigger then mine. But this is just ONE part. We're also.speakimg about ALL DLCs of Panzer Corps I and nearly the same about for Civil war battles on my Smartphone. All wil be covered in my book. So there will be MANY books, as you can see. Best greetings and kind regards, your Pierre

I had to reply to this. I also look at my turn for a long time before deciding on my move. Not just panzer Corps, but all games. My wife refuses to play chess with me for this reason! Good luck with your work.

Thank you!😉 But I prefer this. Because Jump & Run it depends on how fast you handle the Joystick. But I think games like this or Chess - it is almost the same in principle - you have to think. But never play against Russians or Indians. My ex girlfriend was from India and she beat me always in chess.

Hello Pierre,
First of all, thank you for your extremely positive feedback. I think every modder here likes it when their own work is received so positively. In any case, it's nice to know that other people have been looking for exactly this kind of realisation of this part of the history.
Of course you can also make Lets Plays about my mod and publish them on YouTube. For a modder, this is always an interesting source of information. I am also available for comments. I hope you bring something else to the table in addition to a good playing strength, which is useful for my campaigns - stamina. Best regards to beautiful Switzerland.

By the way Rubyjuno, I also like to take my time with my moves. In my life experience, you achieve the best results when you have thought about something for a long time. The second-best results are achieved by acting intuitively with almost no thought. The least favourable results are achieved when you have thought about a problem hastily and therefore superficially. So if your chess partners become impatient and run away, they can no longer beat you - yeah!

How does Windows 11 behave with Panzer Corps, which is now over 12 years old?
Are there any problems with its operability?
Does anyone here have any experience of this or know more about it?
Are you happy with Windows 11?

Nice to know it's not just me! When I started the Grand campaign, I acted hastily and this worked as the Germans were so superior. But the further I went into the campaign, I realised I had to think and plan more carefully or I would lose important core units. Now I take a long look and think carefully before I make my move. Panzer Corps is sometimes like a puzzle that has to be worked out, and after 60 years of experience (at life, not Panzer Corps!) I have learned to be patient.

_Bondjamesbond_ Yes, Bismarck was a clever and experienced politician who still knew what he was doing.

_Terminator_ The new PC is currently being assembled and will be delivered shortly. I'll probably have a first impression by Easter.

_Rubyjuno_ Patience is not one of my strong points. But I am perseverant. However, perseverance combined with impatience can sometimes become intense. Fortunately, my discipline, of which I have plenty as an "old Prussian", slows me down.

It's the Pro version. It will be my 8th computer in total. I bought my first computer in April 1984. It was a C64 with a floppy disc, printer and monitor - a long, long time ago.

That brings back memories - my first computer was a ZX Spectrum in the early 1980s. My first PC was 1992 I think. I used to build my own PCs, but now I pay someone else to build and test for me. I lost interest in building them myself.

My first home computer was also the ZX Spectrum 48K, the C64 was more expensive.

PS: my first game was Manic Miner

I suspected it was a Pro version for an assembled computer. It can be noted that many computers assembled are supplied with the Pro version.

My first game too! I went to my friend's house (to study!) and he was playing Manic Miner... the next weekend I took the train to my parents' house and told them I needed a computer for college. This was in the days before student loans and I had barely enough to live on. My parents weren't rich but could afford £125 (about $200 back then I guess?) but still took some persuading. I had an old portable television with a crack in one side that only showed black and white (and cost £20 second-hand) to plug my Spectrum into. I got addicted to a game called "Halls of the Things" and stayed up all night one time playing it with a friend. My girlfriend was furious! I feel asleep in lectures the next day, snoring while the lecturer ignored me apparently.

Quite the opposite, Rubyjuno. You enrich the pages here with such interesting stories.

By the way, Terminator - I've had my new computer since Friday. It's a wonderfully quiet machine. The ventilator was only audible at times during installations via the DVD drive, otherwise you'd think the computer was off. Windows 11 has made a good impression on me so far. Some things are a little better, other little things are missing. However, considering that I jumped from Windows 7 to 11, the differences are not too serious - so far.

Fortunately, Panzer Corps has worked perfectly until now. Even the installation, which caused me so many problems in 2015 because I installed it in the wrong sequence, worked fine this time. My two mods are also running very nicely - it can continue like this.

In mid-May, I traveled to southern East Prussia (now Polish) for a week. The region there is very scenic and hilly with lots of lakes. I also ended up spending a few hours in Hohenstein (Olsztynek), which was part of the Battle of Tannenberg (August 1914). Although there are hardly any reminders today of the event that took place there 110 years ago, it is a strange feeling to walk around a site where such a decisive battle took place.

Further ahead are 2 screenshots of a scenario from D2R that focuses on this battle (position December 15, 2021).

Interesting reading, Sonja, thanks for the links.

Like many places, Olsztynek has a fascinating history of belonging to different countries over the years.

Incredible that before the Battle of Tannenberg the Russians did not encode their radio orders, so that the Germans could listen to them! Also, the use of trains for fast troop movements reminded me of what is possible in Panzer Corps if you control the railway. It was a slow and long battle, like most in WW1 I suppose, and a heavy defeat for the Russians, who made many mistakes by the sound of it. Always interesting to read of these things in hindsight, and to think of how the outcome might have been different with a few changes.

The Battle of Tannenberg in 1914 is a good example of how Russians wage war. They make a lot of mistakes over and over again and they are able to endure these mistakes. Therefore, every war with them is an absolute punishment, both for the Russians and for their opponents. It gets really bad when you let Germans fight against Russians. Both sides have specific advantages and disadvantages that make a war really scary, even without stupid Nazis.
