Burgundian 1471-77 defeated Ilkhanid Mongols 68:47.

An interesting match, in which horse archers had to contend with well-deployed longbowmen with stakes and plenty of enclosures, all quite close to the edge of the map. One of the good things about this tournament is that I discovered that we have more choice over terrain size than I had previously thought. In the interests of shooty cavalry, though, I wonder why we cannot use that feature to have bigger rather than smaller battlefields?

AKvGoeben (Lysimachids with Hellenistic Thracian Allies) defeats DIVM (Romans with Iberian Allies) 42-64.

A hard fought bloodbath.

Lysimachid left wing consisting of the phalanxes were eventually able to defeat their Roman counterparts, whilst the weaker and slightly refused right wing consisting of medium rhomphaia troops and some hoplites did not take long to crumble. The day was arguably saved by the Lysimachid cavalry on the right who were able to defeat the Roman and Iberian cavalry then return to hit the Romans from behind and save the phalanx.

GGWP to DIVM and fair play to him for coming forward and fighting me on the plain.

Civil war battles are never easy, especially when a Roman army has to go against a lot of cavalry. It was hard fighting, but eventually the other side's cavalry was worn down, without the infantry line breaking. GG!

Massed horse archers ended up being very difficult for the melee-heavy Syracusan to handle.

heidipie imperials best jtrillo french 47 to 22....the Swiss mercs bravely crossed the stream otherwise held by French archers and smashed into the Germans
but there were just too many Krauts, and a kiel was swarmed and routed and the French knights then routed off the filed

Score 54-24

Lot of initial movement with Germans being frustrated in attempts to damage the Dailami with missile fire. Eventually both lines came to grips but the Germans did manage to keep their weaker spears from Dialami charges and the dismounted armoured spears eventually prevailed. Many thanks for the game.

A tough game only decided when finally Carthaginian MI and elephants made their way through woods to get behind the Lysimachid phalanxes. This just before the veteran Carthaginian spears were ground down to auto-break. So close. Thanks to Angus for a great tense game.
