Running FOG2 on a 4K monitor?
Considering options for new PC. Are there any advantages in having a 4K monitor for use with FOG2? I have only ever used a 1920x1080 to date. Same query for Empires but rather than duplicate this post on that forum, folks here may have opinion about that too? Thank you.

I can't answer this one as I don't have a 4K monitor to try it on.
Hopefully someone else will have tried it.

I developed the game on a 4K monitor, so it works just fine. The value depends on the screen size. For anything less than (say) 27" I don't consider 4K worth it. Things are going to be slightly crisper, but you will need a more powerful video card to run games at 4K (though FoG is fairly gentle in its demands). I use a 40" monitor, so 4K gives me a ton of screen space, while effectively being 4 20" monitors at 1080p.

Unrelated, but if you get a touch screen panel, playing with a stylus works really well. That's how I play the game.

Re: Running FOG2 on a 4K monitor?
Many thanks this is very helpful and also interesting to know that the game development was on 4K. I have a 32" monitor at 1080p presently so thanks for the heads up about screen size. Assuming that the scaling needs to be raised to compensate for the 4K effect of making images appear smaller, it's good to know that a slightly crisper image still results.pipfromslitherine wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 4:14 pm I developed the game on a 4K monitor, so it works just fine.
