Battle was joined around several large rough areas on our left. Our lights and horse archers, supported by elephants, shot up a lot of his lancers. Our medium foot closed with his skutatoi and finished off most of them in grinding combat, aided by an occasional flanking attack from our horse. We suffered losses as well, as our own lancers were a pretty fickle bunch, easily disrupted by his bow fire and rather brittle in combat vs his better armored and higher morale horse. Our superior numbers helped us survive and overwhelm the tired Byzantines in the final hours of the day.

Battle really kicked off when a pursuing Andalusian lancer ended up presenting it's rear to my Elephant and I had the advantage from then. Might have been over quicker if my Ghilams on the flank had enough fortitude to meet the charge of a disrupted light horse archer unit, but it might have been a much more difficult battle if it went one more turn, because I'd made a mess of my right flank, but there wasn't enough time to exploit it.
