German 20 mm Flak 38

Post by Juansana »

Hello, I have a question. The 20 mm Flak 38 that you get at the start of the German campaign, why can't you select a transport vehicle there? Is there any way to change this?

Agree with you, bulky bonus, this unit should come with a truck to be useful

PS: I quickly got rid of it by exchanging it for another unit :(

This is what I found on the net:

It would therefore also be possible to make this weapon mobile or update it for transportation in the game

For the 2cm FlaK 38 a trailer was used (Sonderanhänger 51). It could be fired from the trailer, albeit with restricted firing arc. Loading / unloading could be done very quickly.

In the vanilla game, this particular unit is actually quite good, because it has an alternative anti- tank mode. Most AA units can't do this. In AT mode it gets 2 movement points.

Artillery units captured as a bonus in the campaigns always arrive with a means of transport as here in the Blitzkrieg campaign:

Yes, the 4 cm Bofors is nice. 2 movement AA + the Bren Carrier with limited potential for anti-ground work. But, other than the 2 cm it is available for all players.

The 2cm FlaK is a bonus unit after all (afar it comes with the Kriegsmarine DLC). You cannot expect it to be amongst the best. Its still usable, cheap to repair and has low CP costs.

This unit is a defensive unit.
In the Blitzkrieg campaign where this unit appears at the beginning as a bonus, it seems useless to me because all the scenarios of this campaign are offensives. Equipped with a means of transport, this unit could follow the advance of the troops.

You wont use it, an useless reward. It can make some shoot with transport, but becoming too expensive and cp wasted.
Moreover, you don’t engage defensive mission until 1942 panzerkrieg, then there’s little room for towed support units except lovely 88s.

One solution could be to reduce the CP of this bonus unit from 2 to 1.
At the end of the deployment phase, I often have 1 CP free.
In addition the Bautruppe specialized unit costs only 1 CP with a transport truck for example.

Exactly what i have thought, else just make them having 2 movement speed. Except 88s the only AA i think about is those with sustainable mobility.
P/s: after 2000 hours i realized how OP the female labour. Then i somehow ended up with 1 land CP left every scenario

In the Unit Navigator, you should select transports :?:

PS: for dates, it is not important. Strange that the AT is concealable and the AA not :o
