Feudal lords rule campaign round 5

Post by awesum4 »

As TyroneC has achieved unbelievable success and gained control of 13 of the 14 States, and been declared Universal Emperor, I am considering ending the campaign at this point. But I am interested to see if he can maintain control of his empire and even capture Scandanavia the only remaining independent Kingdom.

The final 2 years are 1618 (the first year of the 30 Years War) and 1648 (the final year of that conflict).

There is a major problem that Extra Nations v3, has very few of the European armies of these years, and Tercio to Salvo is missing several of the Eastern armies which makes organising a draw where no one fights someone they have already played extremely difficult.
There are no Irish armies in either year and the Scottish only appear in 1648.

So if we are to continue there may have to be some extra flexibilty with regards to the armies some player use.

Therefore I am asking all players to reply to me either here or by PM stating if they wish to continue.

With all that in mind, I think this seems like a reasonable place to finish :)

I'm easy about it, happy to continue or happy to drop it.
If there is to be another round then perhaps look at the dates again if there are any dates where more countries have armies available.

Just a suggestion if you are running something next year.
How about a Swiss format, like the Slitherine tournaments, using their scoring system. Would add some interest from round to round.
Could use just one match up for each round so we all fought the same battle; something like ECW for example and get enough different match ups to do several rounds.

I will play on if that is the majority wish, or end the tournament with my unbroken record. It was a lot of fun.

Happy to play on or retire as a High King Andre.

What a brilliant idea this was of yours !!!
Another of your magnificent Historical P&S Campaigns that is all "fun & games" with no serious overtones or rules.
Such great fun and variation of armies & players

The Highlight for me was watching Snugglebunnie's army hiding in some woods on the opposite side of the field from my Georgians and not emerging at all !! :o :)

Against Snugglebunnies a Draw is as good as a Win for me :D

The Scottish are happy to raise their highland cattle in relative harmony within the independent kingdom of Scandinavia, though I hear the grazing is sparse and we'll clearly have to house them over winter, autumn, spring and most of summer!

Thanks for the opportunity to rustle cattle over the last few months Andre...I know it's not easy to try a new format when the lists don't play ball  So, Kudos to you and yours, and have a merry 'ole New Year.

Thanks for organising the event Andre, as always it is fun to play, especially with a few new participants (to me anyway) this time.

Happy to continue if that's what is decided.

I'd certainly be up for another round. Whatever the others prefer is fine for me, though.

Ty for organizing the campaign.

I've decided to end the campaign at this point with TyroneC as the very clear winner.

I will run a new campaign early next year, probably a Franco/Prussian War using the preset battles, as there are a number of really interesting and challenging battles we can play.

So I hope you all have a great New Years eve, and see you next year,

Andre
