For mostly better and somewhat worse, I don’t think Pacific Corps 2 will ever see the light of day. This is mostly a good thing as the naval combat mechanics in Panzer Corps 2 are so massively messed up that no DLC will fix it, it needs a massive rewrite of the game engine. Just lol at how horribly bad the naval battles at the beginning of AO 1946 are and you will agree it is time to “Scrap the Lot” and start over with a better engine.

Not Yodo, more Jackie Fisher, “Scrap the lot”. There is wisdom in realizing that the current engine is not fit for purpose and it’s time to move on to a better engine. I want a Pacific game as much as anyone. Just not with this platform.

I agree with this system used by other strategy games.

But why we have to focus with japan campaign on the see? we could start it as AO, earlier than WWII with this country in china 36, than get into 39, 40, 41 campaigns also in china, indonesia, philippines and that would give plenty of time for devs to change system for naval combat or if it would be impossible than go into land combat for india and do smth like in AO46, just short naval combat and then landing in USA with Wehrmacht for example.

Yes, we could start with the Second Sino-Japanese War.

After witnessing the naval combat in AO46, I tend to agree - they just might not be able to fix it. Too bad.

nah, stay calm.
i already know how to "fix" the naval system, but will wait till Pacific comes out, since i hate to do stuff twice.

I just hope they figure out, that 3 hex units don´t need 3 grafics to make them real 3 hex units.
Afaik there was experimenting with 3 units trying to follow each other, which looked awefull.
I have hopes that someone will figure out that there can be 1 unit in the center with all the grafics and 2 invisible units moving in front and at the back blocking the hex and sharing the HP etc. Correcting this is beyond what can be modded atm.
If those stay the way they are i will probs bann them from our mods, since they cannot be put in player hands.
Stuff like this just doesn´t look cool and will surely happen when those things get into player hands.

They scrapped that idea about having multiple units acting as one, as is mentioned in the dev diary, and the main problem is, exactly, linking HP of every parts together.

Marco's right. There's a lot in the works. Some will be entering beta soon, but the rest we won't be talking about until beta testing starts, IF it ever does. I know of 5 projects on going. Some definitely will fall by the wayside but the strongest will get through and we'll talk about them in due course. Pacific should never of been mentioned until we knew it was feasable so we're not doing that again.

Hey Pat! :)

Thx for the news, sounds great. May i offer a maybe stupid or not working idea considering "pacific" ?
Before the game gets abandoned for all time, why not realeasing a basic version of that game for a low price or even free ? There is a great modding community here, and maybe something really nice might evolve over time as a community project ? I mean this might be an option that is better than shelving it maybe forever. I bet there is a lot of money, hard work, time, sweat and dedication in this game so far, and it would be sad if this would be "wasted".

Interesting, so you're going off of, whichever dlc/project is the strongest will release first and then so on and so on? I'm glad you guys aren't going to release info until you're sure it's good. Didn't feel great being strung along for years while being immensely excited for Pacific (It's the area I was most excited for since I've wanted the Order of Battle Pacific campaign in PZC2). Though I understand the huge difficulty in naval combat area.

My wishlist starting with the weakest interest would be:

- Afrika Korps campaign
- Soviet Corps (starting with Spain, Far East, Finland, etc, 41, 42, ...)
- Free French Campaign (Dunkirk, Norway, Syria, Madagaskar, North Africa, Monte Casino, Normandy)
- Italian campaign (Abessinia, Spain, Greece, Africa, war in Soviet Union) ending 1943
- Japanese campaign in Manchukuo, Marco Polo Bridge event, Shanghai, etc. all against China)

Ups and the sixth a British campaign (similar to Free French).

My top five from most interested to least:

1. British Campaign - Begins with small scale operations (maps) where you are losing but still doing the best you can like Norway, France/Belgium, etc. Perhaps even a Battle of Britain map! But things really get going in North Africa with the overrunning of Italian armies in Libya. It could include other areas mingled into it like interventions in Greece, Syria, Iraq, Italian East Africa, etc. I realize not all of these battles are possible if you follow a realistic timeline as some occurred simultaneously, but there is lots of potential there for something incredible and much deeper than what was offered in PC1. Perhaps a series of "Tommy Operations" DLCs!

2. German-Italian African Campaign. My favorite theater of operations! Maybe too much Raiders of the Lost Ark? Elite Objective is to find the Ark of the Covenant? But more seriously, import some of your core from AO1940. I've commented at length on my ideas on this previously elsewhere so I'll leave it at that.

3. US Campaign - Truthfully, I have far less interest with an American Campaign (outside of the Pacific :( ) so there is a big drop after #2. I don't really understand why...I am American so it's not that. It would of course begin with Operation Torch, Italy, D-Day, and on towards Germany. Maybe I find it less interesting because there is so little opportunity for variance in battles and areas when compared to all of the possibilities I alluded to above with a British campaign.

4. Soviet Corps - This would normally rate higher, but I think I am suffering from some Eastern Front fatigue. Many battles, though by no means all, would be the same as in AO Germany campaign. I enjoyed the one from PC1, and once again, would love to see it greatly expanded. If this campaign succeeds in converting me into an avid Communist as well as the AO series did turning me into a hardened Nazi, then you know the team who developed it did a good job.

5. An Italian Campaign - This would be similar to the German African Campaign, but I think they really should be merged and greatly expanded. So it really would a German-Italia Campaign where you must use units from both countries.

I'd love to see micro campaigns as I have mentioned earlier, but I doubt those would be undertaken by anyone other than modders.

My top 3:

1) AO 1943 Redone:
- balancing reboot after kursk ==> you have to sent like 50% of your core force + heroes + prestige to italy; only chance to make the game interesting again
- modify german aux units in historical settings. Its ridiculous there is always just crap with a strength of 5. The War would have been over in late 1943 if any other army beside your own core is just a joke.

2) AO 1944 Redone:
- add some more defense battles. since AO 1944 West wont come (?!) there could be an option where you could split your army, to play some more maps on the west without suspending maps in the east.
- ahistorical: some more real mission, not just rumanian and hungarian stuff all the time. Maybe 2 pathes. One is far more offensive, you keep directly attacking the russian instead of just defending your allies.

3) AO 1945 Redone:
- give us the old wagner back ==> not being a coward running away and let his men die;
- defensive battles that actually work and you not end when you kill 5 command tanks
- ahistorical: no atomic bomb bullshit; no hitler and stalin are dead, now we are best friends bullshit. give us Leningrad 1945, Moscow 1945 (western allies send an huge armies to support)

So PC2 - Frontlines Bulge is announced.

Im looking forward to it. I would have preferred a long DLC series with imported cores and so on, but hey new PC2 campaign content coming, so nothing to complain about from my part :D

Good idea this new mini-campaign. maybe a modder will do a long US campaign like for PZC1 ?

On Twitch, the dev that Marco had on said that there are "long" campaigns/DLCs also in the works, so fear not. It just so happens that this one is ready first.
