Tang vs Starfleet
Questar17 (Hittite 1275-1180 BC) beats LuciusSulla (Sumerian/Akkadian 2192-1762 + Elamite 1800-1501 allies) 62:53
Hilly and woody terrain on LuciusSulla favoured him to protect both flanks from my more quality chariots.
Both armies consist of infantry, chariots, massed archers and light troops. Though he had much more infantry and massed archers. So my plan was start melees by a my syrian spearmen asap which should be better during long melees and to not be shooted by his massed archers.
Armies started to engage on the marsh not far from centre where after some shooting some infantries engaged. On one flank i got superiority due to shooting and infantry quantity. Here after some breaking due to some disfortunate my heavy chariot with general pushed away his chariot at first and disrupted his raw disrupted spearmen but couldn't break it till return of his chariot and break of my heavy chariot by one flanking attack which stuck in a melee with a raw fragmented spearmen. It was a bad luck for me and affected on a game as finally his chariot did more more damage to me.
On other flank melee starts a bit later but opponent had more troops and finally broke almost all troops there.
At the end of battle i finally reached and broke his massed archers behind a marsh to achieve needed points for victory.
Generally i'm bit disappointed of the final result as at the mid of the game i had +15 points more and more opportunities to increase a difference but bad dice rolls and opponents rallies helped him almost to reach me. Honestly at the end of battle i had some luck too when his chariot couldn't break my fragmented chariot and attack from a rear my another chariot.
Thank you for another tough and classy game, LuciusSulla!:) Though both sides did some mistakes in some difficult situations.

The battle was much more harder than score let's see. A lot's of moves at begining to counter the numerous pontic skirmishers and cavs. When heavy clashes macedonian pikes have the the upper hand of dices...

No new scores just one correction to score assignment and one missing result added.
Congratulations to Tang, Pershing's Pikes and Furor Gallico for their progression to semi finals.
Only one semi place to be decided and with corrected score currently 6-0 and large damage difference in Armchair Heroes' favour it is their (sedentary) advantage.

There are two different threads for battles.
One for challenges and one for results.

Either player may initiate a match by posting a challenge in the appropriate (Group) thread in the competition forum and by sending a PM to their opponent. Challenges may be issued now if both players agree, the rules for prompt play will still be applied. Battles are to begin on the 17th November and to end on the 4th December, 23.59 UK time
All matches will select "Open Battle" for the scenario type.
All battles will use 1200-point armies’, players will choose
• a “Medium" army
• a “Medium" battlefield,
• Potluck terrain
• 24 turns
If a match is set-up incorrectly for any reason, then it must be re-started as soon as possible.
Both players must agree to re-start a match within the first three turns if they believe the terrain is likely to produce a sterile match or a draw. The maximum number of re-starts permitted for a single match is two.
For the KO stages we will use the old Digital League system
4 points - for a win where the losing player has not scored 50% or more.
3 points - for a marginal win where the losing player has scored 50% or more.
2 points - for a tie where both players score 60% or more, or for a draw where a player has scored at least 25%
1 point - for a marginal defeat where the losing player has scored 50% or more.
0 points - where a player has not scored 25% or more.
To win a game a player must always “rout” the opponent’s army. A "rout" occurs when an army breaks and 60% of its original troops are routed or dispersed, or if 40-59% of its original troops are routed or dispersed and the opponent has lost at least 25% less.
If both teams have equal points at the end of each stage then the team who has won most games will go through. If still equal, the team with the better score difference/aggregate will go through. If still equal it will have to be a toss of the coin
