GC East completed... 6 years later

Well, I started GC in August 2013, took the East branch and just finished. I did it on Field Marshall and dice chess.

44E was a bit of a grind, so I was a bit apprehensive, but the scenario creators used a bit more imagination on 45E and I enjoyed it much more. The Epilogue was a bit of a damp squib to end on.

I'm pleased to finish it, but a bit sad to leave all those units that I've built into fine fighting machines over the years, but that's the deal. On to 42/43 West!

Congratulations! It had to happen sooner or later :D
45 was indeed a breath of fresh air after the slog of 44.

42/43 West is where you can only import 9 units from your saved corps I think, tough choice..
I started the DLC but did not continue beyond Syracuse.

Enjoyed Soviet Corps a lot and also Operation Sealion had some good starting scenarios.

Thanks PanzerTum :)

I started playing 42/43 West a few years ago before deciding on East, and I remember the horror of losing most of my experienced heroed up units, as well as my prestige! Still, it was always my intention to see the West branch of the GC through after finishing the East, so I'll see how it goes.

When I complete West (3 years probably!), I have US Corps, Soviet Corps and Operation Sealion to go... and all those mods. Not sure which I'll go for yet, judging by my record it won't be anytime soon!

Congratulations!
about time to play one of those epic east front maps in multiplayer to find out what real grind is

by the way i think i finished GC44 east only once, it was just an exhausting lot of save/load. and i might have another 3 years ahead to do the GC45 (which for now i just cant push myself into)

Thanks LevV.
One of the reasons it took me so long is because I had many breaks, either away from Panzer Corps or to play one of the many excellent mods.

GC44 was a grind and towards the end I just wanted it over. The good news is that the scenarios in GC45 are more creative, encouraging the player to be more positive and more enjoyable to play.

How do you play?

Like once every few weeks a full map OR one turn per week/day?

Interesting question.

I tend to play in spurts, around whatever else is going on in my life. Sometimes I'll have a free afternoon, or maybe an evening or two when my wife is watching television, so it's a but random. Then I might have a few days without playing, it can be when a map is completed or even part way through a map. Sometimes I need a break or just don't get chance to play so it might be several weeks. I have no set way of playing.

For example, it took me about 2 months to play the first half of GC44 East, then I got really sick of it and didn't play it for over 4 months (although I played bits of mods occasionally, and my other love Age of Empires 2). Then I really got into it again and played the second half in less than a month. Sometime my wife and I will discover a series to watch and I'll hardly open my laptop while we binge watch.

How about you PeteMitchell, how do you play?

Interesting. I haven't really played that much the last two years, that's why I was asking)

There's so much content, I'm still playing as well.

Just finished off US Corps this week, the briefings gave me a headache with how poorly written it was at times. I thought the campaign was hamstrung by the lack of US units really.

All I have left is the Afrika Corps and GC West I think. But, with PZC2's 1946, I think I need to go and do that campaign instead.

I had a quick look at US Corps, but left it for later. Afrika Corps is my favourite campaign so far, some good varied scenarios.

I've not bothered with PzC2, not keen on the look of it and some of the things I've read about it. I might give it a go at some point, I suppose.

Afrika is the toughest campaign for me. The British are nearly on parity everywhere, particularly air-wise.

I admire anyone who does that with the Italy only core. Jeez.

AK was the first DLC I played after completing the base game. I enjoyed it so much that I played through twice; first on Colonel and then again on Field Marshall.

As you say, playing with only Italian units sounds horrendous. Maybe something to try one day
