I noticed that the towed 105mm wz.29 has a range of 4 and can still move a hex and then shoot.

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
105mm is not heavy
the range of all artillerie pieces has been adjusted to reflect the correct range of the unit. There will surely be some balance changes to this since the 17cm and the 8inch M1 stick out a little atm.
artillerie pieces have in general 3 categories, below 15cm, 15 cm and above 15 cm. with rocket artillerie being it´s own category and a child of worry atm.
below 15 cm work like u are used to.
15cm can switch between artillerie support and AT-support, with AT suppot having a lower range and harder hit.
above 15cm guns cannot move and shoot in the same turn.

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
Regarding the latest units.csv file even I presume it is most likely not final:
I like the changes to infantry upgrades in 41, would be nice to include Kradschützen as well
The artillery changes seem a bit off. Nebelwerfer 42/43 got their range reduced to 1 and the 17cm now has a range of 7.
I am not sure I do like the changes for the heavy artillery pieces. I actually switched back to the 15cm since the damage difference is not that big and the increased range does not off-set the increase in core slots and its limit use since it can no longer move and shoot.

any feedback on the new units-file is welcome and it´s work in progress atm.Resolute wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 10:04 pm Regarding the latest units.csv file even I presume it is most likely not final:

All artillerie pieces have been set to historical ranges, assuming 1 hex = 4km.
This deff has some issues like the 17cm having 26km range was a huge step and needs some balance adjustments.
Rocket artillerie had a very short range and became even more useless than they already were. not sure how to solve this, so any input is welcome here.
kradschützen 41/45 will be included. i am currently in 1940 with a balance run.

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
I don't see a way to make Nebelwerfer more feasible and that is probably ok. I mean, you could give them some insane stats and they would act more like a kamikaze unit. Or maybe something like the early "Wittmann". Not sure if you can attach a unit specific hero but even a generic +1 range would allow players to make more use of some art units they might like to field.
In general I feel max range should be 4. The railgun might be an exception since you're not able to attach heroes to it and it costs quite a lot in terms of core slots.

Hi Grondel,
great work! As of now I only made it to Vipurii and you really are giving this game a totally new twist. I am still adjusting the "15cm arty does not automatically give anti-tank support"... that seriously requires me to revamp my army!
Question: I left Kelja with 84 Elite reinf. and a nice assorment of captured Sovjet equipment.
Starting Vipruii I have zero Elite reinf. Is this on purpose to make the scneario harder? Or is this a bug?

no u should still have the 84 Elites there. i´ll take a look what might be happening and let u know.
What version are u playing? the Ltd. campaign or the normal one?

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
Hi Thomas,
I am pretty sure that I started the "normal" one. Was surprised about the ammo limits popping up in Finland. I assumed you put those in just for some Finland scenarios.
I am not sure what results from the mix of me playing extended over several months and you adding changes to the game is doing.
I am using not any mods except your GC through Steam.
Starting the Vipurii I cannot do any elite replacement. I cannot circumvent this by upgrading my non-full-strngth units to other equipment neither. All of my non-full-strength units are pretty much locked.

I just want to thank you again. I have been playing those turn-based time-eaters since the days of History Line: 1914-1918 and the original Panzergeneral. Amazing to see how much can still be done with this original simple concept.
You are doing an amazing job!

i found the issue in the finnland scenarios. somethings missing in the lua that moves the remaining elites from scenario to scenario. This is no easy fix u can do urself without any issue.
A workaround, if u still have a save from the previous map:
open the editor of the game.

open the scenario. u can find them here:
...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1072040\2410075863\...
then open the menu edit->scenario parameters and open the players tab.
here u can add elites to the scenario.

be sure to add a number to both elite pool and elite per turn for it to work propperly.
Alternatively wait for next update.

Thomas

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
is there an preference/reason between playing 1941 or North Afrika first?
Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
u can do either. mostly depends on what theater/enemy u like more.scorehouse wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 10:11 pm is there an preference/reason between playing 1941 or North Afrika first?
1941 has eastern europe and mostly russians and AC has north africa with mostly british.
Currently AC historical branch ends with the retreat from Tunisia and the follow up campaign(1942/43 West) is not ready yet.
The ahistorical path of AC will either go to India and end there, Pacific not being done yet, or go through caucasus to ahistorical 1943.
if u go through the Balkan to the east with 1941 u can decide at the end of 1942 if u want to go historical 43 or non historical 43.

at the end of this post is a flow chart for the campaign that are currently available.

I will lok into this when I ahve some spare time
Do I have to look into the Vipurii map or the Kelja map for htese changes?
Also -as I am at it: what were your intentions for the ammo pool? Was that supposed to be reset for Vipurii? Or schould there also be a transfer?

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
the workaround i posted needs to be apllied to the viipuri map(the scenario is called "raus" in the files.)
U can only use it if u have a save at the end of the scenario before Viipuri. u need to fresh start the Viipuri map to make the changes work. loading an old save of the viipuri map will not have the changes.

Thomas
