Hill Inidanas versus Indians

Post by deadtorius »

Hello all
I have been thinking of swinging my Selucid army into the Bactrian/ Greaco Indian armies. the army lists list both hill Indians and Indians, the hill Indians don't have the swords. I was wondering if there was much difference in appearance of these two types in the ancient era. I will be using the Rafm figs for the Indians, unfortunately they only come with the sword cast on I believe, but I can get 2 different heads one with the bun up font and one with a couple of feathers on his head. Was thinking of using the heads to keep track of who is who.

Hill Indian's are generally depicted as wearing jackets (it being colder at altitude) than the sub-tropical barechested Indians. Whether an uplander would have stripped off at low altitude...and vice versa is a good question!
PG; May contain swearing Russian roulette bloody violence terror medical and regular gore distress horror (including guinea pigs) fantasy horror with scenes where characters are endangered by food and hard to categorise situations involving penguins.

Thank you for that, I guess they might have stripped down for fighting in the lowlands. Might make it a little more challenging to find an appropriate figure.

Assuming that FoG 'Hill Indians' = DBM 'Mountain Indians' (must buy he other lists books)

These are hill tribes of Afghanistan and Northern Pakistan, fairly similar dress to contemporary Bactrians. (not that different from the 'modern' outfits used for the last 1500 years or so). The bear chested chaps with the big swords are from the Northern Deccan and Ganges Plain (maybe 1000km away).

There's a TMP thread http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=164129 and some notes http://www.ancientbattles.com/Indians/m ... an_FAQ.htm

That should be enough..

Thank you for the links I will have to check them out and yes you are correct, I wrongly refer to them as hill Indians as the lists show them as mountain Indians.
