Something weird (maybe) with a ranked game

Hi,

I started a game against a player, me rank 1000, he/she rank 1031 (as far as I remember).
After only a few days of playing the game, Caen, stops sort of weird during turn 9, maybe he resigned or cancelled.
There was no specific message. In that game his name was Orange/Red while I started it.
I received a mayor Victory while only having 28 (me) vs 48 points (he/she).
Probably not an experienced player playing only with Tiger tanks and Heavy infantry (or a Panzer Corp 2 player).

Okay, wait, first I got mails that the game had ended but 10 minutes later I got a mail for one of the matches that it was my turn. So I played it but couldn't move and only got the result message. No wait, I did play a few moves and it interrupted me.

Okay, it was very weird. But now after these few days my ranking is 1021 and his suddenly 1131. He probably played more online games but it was hard to imagine where he won so much points. I would have probably beaten him both matches around turn 16 out of 30. Could this be an error a cheat or just something weird. I am not used to players ending games midgame, played 3 turns on it today for example.

Is it possible to misuse the ranking system? Is it based on result or points?
I'll keep an eye on this just for fun.
Anyone else had this experience?

Okay, so the second match of this pair was ended if I believe the mail I got. But this one just continues, turn 11 out of 15. The other match said turn 9 of 30. So I have one cancelled match? And one that seemed ended of cancelled but just continues. Very very weird... I mean, I played Caen before, like a lot of times. Not sure what is going on with this game, very weird.

I noticed almost similar message in the MP Forum about a Tournament match which I will quote here:

On turn 18 I captured both of my opponents supply points and while I didn't expect a fireworks display, I did expect a significant increase in my points and that didn't happen... nothing, nada, zip. Additionally, in all previous games, when they ended, I was offered the opportunity to save a replay of the game and this time that didn't happen either. Could someone please explain."

Just finished my second half of the round 2 match, similarly taking both my opponent's bases and supply points on turn 18. However I did not get a victory message, or a big points hike, just a subsequent email that the challenge was over and a final score of 92pts. In the other half match I got 163 (admittedly 2 turns earlier) and the usual victory message.

Enough evidence to suggest something odd going on?

Whatever, certainly enough after my first round experience to make me completely paranoid!

I had another game that started without me being able to do the setup. All sorts of German units were on the map, not my choice. As the British I could do a regular setup. This is the Cyrenaica scenario. So weird. How can I conquer Africa with walking infantry?
