Re: Tides of Conquest Late Medieval campaign, turn 3, 1308 CE
The 10 vp from the Austrian battle would not be enough to gain Germany an alliance in Croatia but it would give you 14 more influence, which will increase your chance of a positive alliance shift in future turns. I will edit the file to add the influence. You will also have a slightly higher income due to fewer losses.
Here is an amended file if you need the extra resources for your orders (for other realms there should be no difference). You should have 95 resources now and 96 influence, which means that you will almost certainly gain one positive random event next turn. The battle detail message will still show only 3 vp but other log messages have the correct score.

I'm not going to have time to keep up with games the next while, so I'm going to need to drop out of these. Best of luck to all continuing!

Re: Tides of Conquest Late Medieval campaign, turn 3, 1308 CE
Did the newest turn file get posted so we can put in Tides of Conquest orders yet? I am anticipating a sudden splintering of the Golden Horde that I am playing, but eager to see the alt history effects of my bad plays haha.

Yep! It's here

The Horde is splintering as a Horde, but having built a capital it has a reasonable chance of a comeback as a urban state.

Hi - I had received them but the year was for 1304, last turn, rather than 1308, this year. I thought I messaged you back but I can't find the message now. Would you be able to check if they're the right year and email again? Sorry about that.

Re: Tides of Conquest Late Medieval campaign, turn 3, 1308 CE
Emperor Euphemios the Grim declares his sacred mission - to conquer the final holdout of the Ottoman state in Bursa and restore imperial hegemony in Asia minor. He demands total obedience from the Romans. Theological bickering between clerics, rivalries between ancient patrician families and land agitation by farmers will no longer be tolerated. Meanwhile, the Ottoman sultan musters what tribes and timariots still answer his call and masses his forces near Bursa to await the onslaught.
The king of Sweden takes an interest in theological affairs, and scholars in the archbishopric of Uppsala pen a series of influential treatises on the separate clerical and secular spheres of authority in a Christian kingdom. The latter is seen as an attack on the Empire's new populist orientation, after an appeal by the Emperor Caspar the Generous to the commons to air their grievances has led to a flurry of petitions and demonstrations. A group of radical mendicant German friars from Kiel clash with a Swedish delegation during debates in Denmark, and several Swedish clerics are killed. The king demands that the bishop of Kiel pay reparations, and, when those are not forthcoming, leads an expedition to punish German insolence.
Emperor Caspar calls a diet to discuss possible reforms, but his armies continue their course. The aging but still doughty Augustus Bach sets sail for Wales, where pro-imperial chieftains have requested German assistance against the new prince Owen's French patrons. The eastern lords meanwhile muster for another attack on their longtime enemy Hungary. They bring fire and sword into the steppeland of the Alfold, but as they do so word reaches them that the King of Poland, citing various incursions by German crusaders and settlers in Prussia and Silesia, has launched an attack on the imperial-allied margrave of Brandenburg.
The Hungarian king conducts a review of his finances and finds everywhere he looks that import tariffs are far less than expected. Further inquiry reveals a pattern of Venetian bribery to mayors, inspectors and other officials to allow Venetian goods, especially silks from the east and salt from the Adriatic marshes, to evade royal tolls. Many of the goods seem to be coming up through Croatian territory, and a force is raised to march south to scour the Adriatic coast. The Venetian great council meanwhile hosts a debate on various abuses of power attributed to the Hungarian-sponsored podestas who have recently risen to prominence to Tuscan city-states, and dispatches an ambassador plenipotentiary, accompanied by a large force of urban knights and mercenaries, to investigate them and, at his discretion, remove those responsible.
As Castile expands into north Africa, its crusading fervor begins to abate. Treaties with various Berber warlords have been celebrated by feasts, gift exchanges, and even the occasional cross-religious marriage. Castilian theologians begin to expound new humanist doctrines that explain how a Christian king can rule Muslim subjects. Aragon accuses Castile of abandoning its Christian mission, and to make its point sends a foray into the Castilian-allied emirate of Granada. Castile responds to this attack on its ally with its own raid into the sunny orchards of Valencia.
A brief period of English hegemony in the North Sea region comes to an end, as the fractious barons of Normandy show themselves no more ready to bow to an English-backed duke as a French one. Once again, England's yeomen collect their yew staves and make their way to the Cinque Ports for the brief voyage to Normandy. Once again, French knights pitch their brightly colored tents on a field outside Paris for a round of feasting and jousting at the king's expense before marching up the Seine to war.
The Golden Horde, formerly known now as the Sultanate of Saray, continues to evolve from nomadic horde into settle urban state. Scholars hired from across the Muslim world set up courts in the capital and review the khan/sultan's decrees for accordance with Islamic legal thinking. But outside the elegant courtyards of the mosques there is tumult in the streets, as refugees flee into the capital. The steppe is ablaze. Tribal chiefs to the east, formerly vassals of the khan, are now allied with Muscovy and raiding as far as Saray's suburbs. The Grand Prince of Moscow himself is attacking Rostov, a Russian principality now allied with the Horde. The Horde for its part sends an expeditionary force of noyans who are more interested in war than jurisprudence to assist the Greeks of the Crimea, who are rebelling against their Moscow-backed overlords. Others go seeking their fortune in the east, where some of the khan's distant cousins are feuding with even more distantly related cousins in the Chagatai sphere of influence on the Syr Darya river.
