I just created a script that enables players to get captured planes, when an airfield is captured.
I am thinking about whether or not it is worth the effort to add it to the mod.
Airfieldcapture script:
When capturing an airfield the player has a 50% chance to get captured planes.
50% chance for 10-15 fighters
30% chance for 10-15 tacs
20% chance for 10-15 strategics
the type of plane is determined by the scenario creator and should be enemy planes that exist at that point in the game.
No extra prestige is awarded, just the planes.
let me know what u think.
sers,
Thomas

However!... keep in mind that if the SKY is clear... then the Aircraft would be able to Rebase to a safer... more secure location. On the other hand... if there is a "Snow-Storm"... or "Heavy Rain Squall"... or even in the "Dark-Of-Night"... then the Airfield Aircraft would now not be able to depart to safety.

Re: Airfield capture script
I dont know how often this might have happend in WW2?!
I dont need this feature, since I never use caputured aircrafts...maybe Spitfire 2 for a while. It could mess up the game somehow, if you sneak in with a recon car and go out, just to capture some planes behind the frontlines. I prefer to current system with some hidden caches.

Re: Airfield capture script
The Finns had a Bomber Squadron, number 48, which flew some German bought Pe-2:s, and our own repaired DB-3's. They were quite difficult to keep functioning properly/optimally without the necessary spare parts and manuals. Plus there was a problem of getting accidentally shot by Finnish troops or planes.
But it's a nice idea. Personally I'd make it more difficult to obtain the planes, make them a little bit slower than the originals, and perhaps make them lose a point of strength now and then, simulating engine problems.

The idea sounds great, but the odds seems a little to high to get planes. Later on bigger maps there are a lot of airfields, so the player might "drown" in spares later on. But the idea is great to achive planes from capturing and not only from comandation rewards and "easter egg" captures
Re: Airfield capture script
The later the year the more diff. modells has the enemy. i didn´t do the math to that yet, but by "the theory of the big thumb" it should prevent the to many models of one type issue, unless luck strikes.Bee1976 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 12:06 pm The idea sounds great, but the odds seems a little to high to get planes. The script mainly aims to eas the pain of ppl playing with "denied-air"-trait in air only missions or "collector" diff setting, as well as ppl playing the limited campaigns.
