unit transports disappear question...

At the end of one of the Russian front scenarios half of my infantry and half of my artillery ended up without transport...I watched this happen as the game progressed...is this a bug in the program or am I missing something?

putting units into transports like planes ships trains can sometimes remove the transport from the unit. the prestige is awarded so u have no los, but u need to reassigne the organic transport in a supply hex or the next deployround.

might that be the case?

I give all my infantry and artillery trucks to get around in at the beginning of the scenario...I have never seen this happen before during a scenario...I'm at a loss...been playing SP2 since it was SP1...what is causing this? I have all the latest updates.

ok, i´ll try again more slowly.

when u move an infatry with a truck onto an airfield and use a Ju52 airtransport that infantry unit will loose its truck.
same for any towed gun that can be airlifted.

I understand but that is not what is happening,, no air transports involved...very weird...never happened before

in my 3k hours of PC2 that never happened, i can imagine that turning mods off and on might cause that.

when exactly do they "disappear"? between scenarios or during the scenario?

You probably lost your transport by moving your unit into hexes that has a "Lose Transport" mark in moving preview. This happens when that hex is not accessible for wheeled/halftrack movement type but your movement is enough to move into that hex if they give up their transport, or the movement cost to that hex makes driving into it impossible but walking into it possible.
One more situation if the scenario you mentioned happened to be Rzhev 1942. Your units starting in encirclement have no fuel, so they can't use their transport. If you order them to move, they also give up their transport and move on foot instead.

Lose transport mark?????....never heard of or seen such a thing...not the rhezv scenario...something further on around Leningrad...I have been playing this game since it first was released...I have all the latest updates...maybe it is a bug.

it big, its red, none can miss that. maybe u turned off the movemarkers in the options? turn them back on and u will solve the mistery of the missing transports.....

It might have happened on the AI turn - it's quite easy to miss it when it happens. If the enemy attack forces infantry or artillery to retreat, but they have too little fuel to do so with transports they discard these transports and move to get away.

I just ran into the same problem as the original poster (OP) in the Mission "Breakthrough at Sedan". And I believe it's due to, as some of you explained, the "Lost Transport" mechanic. There are a lot of Thick Forest hex in the middle of the map, and I noticed as I tried to move some of the units with organic transport into those hex, an icon which looks like a "Red Stop Sign over a Truck" pops-up on those hex, I foolishly ignored them and continued to move my units into them... and some also mentioned, it also could've happened during AI turn if my unit was forced to retreat into those hex... oh boy, after playing this game for over 130hrs, still have so much to learn, love it!

This just happened to me too. So many times ive prolly lost it already but been like, oh mby i messed with upgrading cause by default its always off if u change unit number or type or anything. This time i was sure i had it, i went trough all transports at deploy phase(like i most of time do nowdays). Went to see my save file and yea, somewhere along map my mountain infantry just losts its transport . They didnt get transported via any train or anything. I did climb a mountain tho(not highest ones) so mby they didng wanna pack those opels in their backpack

Yeah, its pretty obvious symbol if u stop to think about it. I never did, not even on my around 400hours of playing this game. Ive just enjoyed playing >:). Ive been wondering tho, wtf is that red symbol like back in my head abit. Thought it was kinda weird its there, and can still move there

Well, only looking at the symbol you might think you cant take your vehicle with you, but you could get it back when you go out of the forest again.
