grahamed Carthaginian Hannibal in Italy 216-203BC with Samnite allies beat SawyerK Roman 105-25 BC with Bithynian ally by 29 (12-41)
Florinus Florinus where are my legions! What? you say you lost to wood elves (samnite veterans) and monster bears (Elephants) across stream between a vast wood and a giant mountain!
An interesting and hard fought game by both sides....
The Legions drew up in the small space between the mountain range and the table edge opposite a huge wooded area where a stream ran across the only open area from the mountain to the wood. While a few brave cavalry scouts concealed themselves in another wood on the far side of the mountain.
A tiny Carthaginian cavalry and Samnite force drew up opposite the wood holding Roman scouts next to one of their own woods with a few spearmen, between the two Carthaginian woods stood a few spearmen and Carthage's pale imitation counterfeit Legion.
Opposite the two Carthaginian woods Half Rome's mighty Legions and auxilia ground forward toward the wood , met by a few Carthaginian infantry scouts screening the cowering conterfeit legions
The rest of the Legions with Florinus and most of his cavalry pushed between the mountain and the wood for the stream. Alas the Carthaginians were just too close to the stream and reached it first, all the while their foot and cavalry scouts creeping out of the woods to harass Florinus men.
Carthage's cavalry scouts over extended themselves racing for the mountain edge and Rome's brave Cavalry scouts leapt from their wood behind the Carthaginians to engage, the tussle lasted well into the battle until finally carthage's reinforcing horde arrived and Rome's scouts were overwhelmed.
Back opposite the two Carthaginian woods Rome's auxilia and legion pressed forward toward the woods, Carthage's counterfeit legions were joined by veteran spears when suddenly hordes of samnites poured like wood elves from the woods and began to overwhelm the roman auxiliaries and support troops. Noble legionaries helped by brave cavalry pushed forward, alas too far as more samnites poured out of all the woods spurred on by the sight of a huge monstrous creature charging from hiding in the wood so violently the carthaginian general riding him hit his head on a branch and fell off! The enraged creature hurled on breaking through and tearing along the Roman vanguards now ragged lines.
Over at the stream, try as the might, the legions and florinus just could not break through the veteran Carthaginians as more and more of their samnite friends poured out of woods to join the fray.

Morat (Sarmatians/Germans) beat ulysisgrunt (ancient Brits/Romans) 62-45
Chariots and British horse played havoc with the normally reliable Sarmatian lancers. Mercifully for the Sarmatians the warbands did enough to get the army over the line.
Thanks to ulysisgrunt for a good and hard fought battle.

tyronec (Sicilian) defeats Kroche (Norman) 62-39
The Italian Normans had the initial advantage with more firepower and Knights but when the Norman foot got into contact for a while it could have swung the other way.

Alexmike1 Aragonese 1200-1274AD with Castilian/Leonese allies drew with Indibil Catalan 1050-1136 with Andalusian allies
Score was 63 (Alexmike1) to 60 (Indibil)
Crazy battle in which the resilience of my knights kept me in it at times. Both armies were battered by the end and a draw was the only fair result.

Blagrot (Crusaders) beat Heidipie (Irish) 44% - 5%
The map was an open desert with a forest to one side, I loaded up on knights and lighter horse in hopes of catching some Irishmen before they reached the safety of the trees or at least shooting and routing a few once they did. As expected the gaelic hored settled into the forest and I began to surround it a little, deciding to take the bait of the troops in the open between a couple of sets of trees. This brought everyone out to play, but the valient efforts of the Irish to flank and wear down the knights faltered when pretty much everything disrupted on contact and the lighter cav slipped in looking for flanks in turn. Thanks for a fun if abrupt game

Blagrot (Crusaders) beat Ulysisgrunt (Berber) 58% - 30%
Despite an annoying rough hill the massed horse archers and pavise crossbows picked apart the berber spears and mediums on my right. The mix of crossbows, archers, pavises, spears and knights proved stronger than the berber foot and cavalry in the centre while my slightly neglected left held long enough to prevent any wrap around. Thanks for the game

Random27 (Berber) beat Blagrot (Crusaders) 49% - 20%
I tried to be clever, knights do NOT manoeuvre like ancients cavalry and they got trapped and slaughtered, the lack of lights to counter my opponents didn't help either, thanks for the game

Principes romanes (romans 199 bc + numidian allies) defeats rockmanbob123 (Hannibal in Italy 216 and Bruttian allies) 41-9
The romans anchored between a patch of rough ground a a forest, forcing the Carthaginian cavalry on wide flank maneuvers while the infantry made contact. The Roman right crushed the weaker infantry opposing it while the stronger Carthaginian infantry wing was delayed behind a protracted skirmisher. In the end, the Roman legions won out in the centre before the cavalry could pull off a successful flanking maneuver.
Thanks for the fun game!

Principes Romanes (Romans 199BC & Numidian Allies) defeats Indibil (Romans 105BC & Numidian Allies) 41-12
The Roman civil war came to a head when the armies lined up on a narrow costal plain (water to one side), presumably on the North African Mediterranean coast (given our respective allies). On the other flank was a lake and dense forest. The two armies stood facing each other across on some gentle hills across a deep stream passing from the lake to the coast.
My early Romans were confident in their light troop superiority - taking more than enough missile units to fill the narrow opening between us. Meanwhile, my opponent spotted a ford upstream, on the far side of the lake, he intended to exploit with his cavalry.
My light infantry indeed came out ahead in the skirmish over the river. Unfortunately, their harassement potential was somewhat limited by my legions standing right against the stream. A staring contest commenced, with only the occasional clashing of swords and trickle of arrows as each army looked for an opening. My opponent bravely ventured across the stream a few times but never met with any real luck. Only an elephant quickly thrown in to plug a gap fled.
Meanwhile, my opponent's flanking force discovered the woods near the ford were teeming with javelin men, who quickly put a halt to the cavalry advance. The arrival or an elephant and some medium infantry turned the flank attack's limited gains into a route.
Truly a technical battle given the unique battlefield. Congratulations to Indibil for making the best of it once his army's skirmish line came out the worse for the wear.
