Mods Featuring Alt-History Paths?
Just started getting into mods for OOB. Are there any big mods that have alternate history paths for campaigns?

Excellent question. I think there are some, but only single player based on what I've seen. Tried nagging Parreigo into making something the scale of his "The Russian Campaign" (largest map I've seen) but in an alt North America where Rommel overthrew Hitler and allied with Stalin. Naturally the US would have to ally with Japan to fight them off

Sounds like that would be pretty insane. Not a fan of the huge battle maps but it could be fun.KarisFraMauro wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 7:31 am Excellent question. Uhm, mine is set in a completely made up world so it doesn't qualify.

Yeah unless you really love HUGE maps (or map, since it's unique) The Russian Campaign is probably not the best fit. There is a good medium / large but not crazy large map called The Pacific War I recommend, especially if you like naval stuff.

It's a total conversion, it comes with its own manual so you can check out the features and understand if you like it before downloading it. I'm currently polishing a new version which will introduce two other factions (Italy and Byzantium) and two new campaigns as well as minor balance "fixes".

This is pretty interesting that there aren't any specializations and you play as Yugo in 1940, Britain in 42, and Yugo again in 43/44.StuccoFresco wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 7:25 amHere it is: https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=108116Thunderhog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 9:44 pmWhat's your mod? Yeah I kept specializations on the side because I have to understand them much better than I currently do. Keeping separate campaigns alternating the side complicates matters, so I was still on the fence. A single campaign spans less than a single year so introducing those kind of "technology tree" feels a bit strange to me.Thunderhog wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 1:26 pm This is pretty interesting that there aren't any specializations and you play as Yugo in 1940, Britain in 42, and Yugo again in 43/44.
I won't exclude including them in a near future, after all I almost always include new features in new versions, but I feel they would be better suited for a later phase. A 4.0 or 5.0 version.
I won't lie: I have entertained the idea of making another mod in a more "grand strategy" kind of gameplay with larger campaigns, the Division as basic unit size, event-driven management of the war industry, and full specializations' implementation.
