German Inf Key to Success??
With oil so valuable, has anyone tried to max out the German inf? Do they manage to gain enough in shock and such to make a real difference? Or is it best to rely on the armour and air?

I was recently in a situation like this, with my German infantry very high on tech. But my manpower and oil were equally low. So I could kill the enemy infantry when I attacked, but my opponent had an easier time killing me on his turn. Ultimately, infantry needs to be the anchor of your army because it's cheap and doesn't use oil, but it's usefullness is limited without air and armour support.
That said, if you're just trying to defend, nothing beats a double defensive line of infantry corps.

German Inf.
From what I see in my admited limited experience the short answer is definately yes. Especially after some level gains in research. With oil so valuable, has anyone tried to max out the German inf? Do they manage to gain enough in shock and such to make a real difference? Or is it best to rely on the armour and air?
In the previous version of BJR mod it was not practical to overbuild infantry as Germany. German manpower would inevitably be reduced to low levels by 1943 or 1944. As the German you had to carefully husband your manpower to avoid dipping below the various thresholds (75%, 50% etc).
However the current version of BJR mod seems to have boosted German manpower quite significantly. My experience w/ this version so far is that it might indeed be possible to take a human-wave approach to German tactics by building tons and tons of infantry. I don't think that I've seen German manpower fall below about 100% in the current BJR version. Infantry is quite effective on the attack as well as the defense and if high tech it is I think very cost effective.

Just finished a PBEM game as the Germans against a pretty capable opponent (Germans won) and I was down to 76% manpower at the end, despite husbanding my units, so I think it would be pretty easy to get below 75% if you went human wave tactics... Going hi tech with tanks and planes (which I did) does limit your strategic options though due to the oil burn rate so infantry have to be juggled into your strategy if you are to play out through 1944 and 45...jjdenver wrote:However the current version of BJR mod seems to have boosted German manpower quite significantly.
