Modding the game is quite simple, at least from the view of someone who’s been messing around with this stuff for a bit now. Actually going through and adding units, that takes immense time. Creating a essentially vanilla game, but with the images this kind fellow has shared with us, is comparatively easy. I’d be willing to create an otherwise vanilla mod, just these pictures are in the place of the regular ones.bru888 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 8:31 pmThey do look quite attractive. Though it should be understood that this means modding the game which most of us (including me) don't know how to do. I may want to learn, though, for this purpose. That requires people willing to explain how to do so. I'm thinking of moving this thread to the Scenario Design forum where such people hang out. We'll see.Zekedia222 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 8:18 pm I do potentially see an issue with these photo. Some of them have a white background. No issue, right? Nope. The name of the unit on the purchase screen is in white text, so it doesn’t show up too well. Otherwise, I quite like these.

Re: Unit pictures (color)
Well, this particular mod is so simple that even a child like me can do it!

Create new folder called "Units" here:
Drag (that is, extract from the zipped file) the desired image(s) here:
The image appears in the game!
Of course, there has to be a match of file name to the game's unit name, but I would imagine that Alexey has done a nearly perfect job of that.

Re: Unit pictures (color)
Nearly perfect in that I noticed if you sort the folder by file type, there are a number of files in JPG format and some of those are not labeled properly:
And, if you look closely at image dimensions in this screenshot, they are not properly sized; yet they all appear to have been intended for specific units:
Please don't take this as nitpicking; out of 1,418 images, these errant files are nil. If Alexey wanted to correct them, though, it would be even more appreciated.
Still, it's a work of art as it is, a great achievement. It deserves to be preserved rather than disappearing down the forum board. The forum owners are reluctant to sticky threads due to their concern for clutter. I tend to agree with them; I don't like needing to scroll, scroll down to active threads because the window is two-thirds or more of sticky threads.
So, I am proposing this to Alexey: Would you be willing to post your link in this thread, which is already stickied?
I would then change the thread title to "Free Event and Unit Images" and edit your post to include my "how-to" photos above.

Re: Unit pictures (color)
There seems to be a "display bug" due to the game itself and not to the mod.
In the unit list, the upper part of the unit image erases part of the unit name (CaptureColour(1).PNG) which is not the case of the lower image(CaptureColour(2).PNG).
The image of the unit should be in the background and not in the foreground erasing part of the name in the unit list(CaptureColour(1).PNG).
This is not seen in the game with the official unit images because the upper part of the unit image is transparent.

Something to do with image layers, perhaps? Yes, the images look good in the editor and in the game when the unit is in focus but when the focus is elsewhere and you are hovering over the unit, that image obscures part of the unit name:terminator wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:47 pm There seems to be a "display bug" due to the game itself and not to the mod.

Even so, a minor blemish.

And I edited the thread title and added instructions to your post, as promised. Thanks again!

Re: Unit pictures (color)
Hello I remember downloading this excellent mod years ago and really enjoying it. However, after reinstalling Order of Battle and trying to find this mod again, the download link (http://www.mediafire.com/file/5fprzxqse ... s.rar/file) no longer seems to work. Is there anyway to get a copy of this mod? I miss seeing those cool unit pictures.

Re: Unit pictures (color)
I sent the OP a PM. They have been around these parts in the last couple of months, so it may happen. If so, a confirming post from them would be appreciated.

Thank you bru88, I hope he can post it again. It really is a great mod that should be incorporated into the base game. Hopefully he'll see this and post it again.
If anybody else has it, I'd pretty appreciate it they could repost it too.
