Assign Light Troops to a leader?

Post by Redpossum »

What are the pros and cons of assigning light troops to a leader in the deployment phase, as opposed to leaving them unassigned?

There are no cons. The pro is that you can put the subgeneral they are assigned to on them for better rally chance, useful in the early stages when the skirmishers are engaged but the main lines have yet to make contact. Of course you don't want to put them on a light unit actually at risk of being broken, just those disrupted ones that you shunt behind the line to safety while you wait for them to rally.

There are no cons.
What about command and the free turn business.

Free turn I believe is provided by any friendly general not in combat whose command range a unit is in.

Grouping lights with non-lights may also free up additional command groups, which don't require generals. This is usefull if you have some small flanking forces/ reserves, but want to put all generals in the main line. (It mainly helps with mass-moving your units more easily.)
