Re: Soviet Corps Suggestion Box
I suppose you could give horse drawn artillery a leg movement rating, maybe 3 points, or vary it a bit depending on the gun, the bigger guns being slower. It has always bothered me a bit that large artillery pieces in this game are just as easy to move as the small ones. I find it hard to accept tha...

Re: Rate of fire?
In my army, German artillery of any kind that develops a range hero gets turned into nebelwerfers. I find it hard to position nebelwerfers with only range 2, but at range 3 they're awesome.

Re: Soviet Corps
It could make for howls from players, but... You could let the player develop an experienced core, then simulate Stalin's purges of the Officer corps. Cut all experience levels by 60% or something. Actually, Soviet corps without some sort of nod to the purges would be seriously unrealistic. The lack...

rarity
It bothers me a bit to see people developing rosters of core units consisting largely of units that were quite rare in the actual war. Tiger II, for example. Tigers and Tiger IIs were the rarest tanks in the German army, never built in large numbers. And generally the ones in service spent less time...

Re: Soviet Corps
I'd be disappointed if a Soviet Corps campaign started with the Barbarossa invasion. Soviets should start with the invasion of Poland and then move to the Winter War with Finland. If you want hypothetical scenarios, how about Soviets vs Japanese in Manchuria? It seems to me this was a lot closer to ...

Re: Stuck in Afrika Korps and Wehrmacht Campaigns
I have to agree with Victor K, you need some artillery. Artillery reduces your losses considerably by suppressing enemy units with an attack they can't reply to. I rarely attack an enemy unit without prep fire from artillery or aircraft to soften it up. For range, I like the Italian 149mm towed guns...

Re: Question from a 'newbie'
I downloaded the demo, played a couple of turns, decided I wanted the game. Then I bought Afrika Korps. I intended to buy the German GLC set next, but have not yet finished with Afrika Korps. Panzer Corps Wehrmacht seems a bit unnecessary to me since I will eventually get the DLCs. Of course, by the...

Perhaps if the scenario is too hard for you, you should try playing it at a lower difficulty level than Field Marshall? There are lower difficulty levels for a reason.

Re: Bunker in a city
Engineers are what pioneer equivalent units are called in the U.S. and British army lists. Similarly, the grenadier equivalent units are referred to as heavy weapons. Do not confuse pioneers with bridge engineers. Bridge engineers do not have the "Meng" (presumably an abbreviation of milit...

Re: City names (suggestion)
My complaint about names is they appear in place of the terrain type. Terrain type is not always obvious from the graphics, particularly in mountain ranges, where high mountains, mountains and hills can be tough to tell part. But in some scenarios every hex in the mountain range gives the name of th...

Re: Bunker in a city
Pioneers/engineers are great for attacking entrenched units in general, and especially good for attacking forts. I've seen people listing their core units in various forum threads, often with no infantry except grenadiers/heavy weapons. Which leaves me scratching my head. How in the world do these g...

Re: PanzerCorp
If you check the mods available for Panzer Corps over at the Matrix Games forums http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=989, I think there may be one or two Pacific campaign mods. I'm sure we'd all prefer an official Slitherine product but some player mods are pretty good.

Re: What does rate of fire mean?
KeldorKatarn, would it be accurate to say these three panzer corps vehicles all carry that sIG 33 infantry gun: sturmpanzer, sIG 33 II (sf), and sIG 38(t) M ? and thus could be justifiably modded to have shorter range? Whereas the hummel is the only SP arty in the unmodded equipment list that carrie...

Re: What does rate of fire mean?
First of all, the SIG 33 was a 150mm SIG, (not 155) and not a 150mm field howitzer. The 150mm howitzer was the 15cm sFH 18 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15_cm_sFH_18). sFH stands for schwere Feldhaubitze or heavy Field Howitzer. The SIG was an infantry support weapon, the 150mm heavy infantry gun....

Re: BATTLE DAMAGE TILES
Hmm. I don't know how tiles are rendered in panzer corps, but if its like similar games I am familiar with, every terrain hex is represented by a single specific tile in a library. There are probably hundreds of these tiles. Adding a single "battle damaged" version of each one would mean r...

If you don't like where you placed a unit during deployment, you can take it back. Right click the unit on the map and it returns to your reserve.

Re: Unit types hard to distinguish
There are certain consistencies you get used to. AT guns always have level barrels, and usually a visible gun shield; towed artillery and AA guns have barrels that rise at an angle. Towed artillery normally has 2 wheel carriages with split trails and never a gun shield; AA guns have 4 wheel carriage...

Re: A reflection on the quality of German armor
Not quite what you are talking about, but German armor plate did suffer in quality as the war went on. In the early war German armor plate was great, substantially better than what the Russians could produce and slightly better than American (I am not too sure how British plate compared). But as the...

British. {snip} I hope to find more Commonwealth troops in there. The "minor" nations are usually very neglected, despite the fact that the commonwealth nations contributed a lot. {more snipped} Playing Afrika Korps, I have been struck by the preponderance of commonwealth troops. It took ...

Thanks for the advice. I do wish I could set it so only fighters get a zone of control.
