CLEAR terrain provides +10% hit chance. OPEN terrain provides no bonus. Shenandoah Studio had it right, but Slitherine mistakingly treats OPEN terrain as CLEAR terrain. I think the problem may be that elite armoured had +10% hit chance even when defending. I am not sure if this is only a problem for combat previews.

The combat preview for out of supplied units are wrong. Out of supplied unites only have 20% hit chances. This is not reflected in the combat preview. The preview uses the normal hit chance for armoured units. I even doubt whether the hit chance is correctly coded -- maybe out of supplied units are ...

Retreat decision is made before combat is over, and if retreat, defenders take one hit less than if they hold.

Have you tried zooming in then scrolling side ways? Drive the ui to an edge of the screen and it will move towards the wide side.
