Re: I Want a Sandcastle, Not a Competitive Excercise

I really like the interface of Battle Academy, it was a fast pick-up for me, and I am playtesting Pike & Shot . Certainly the lack of overwhelming detail (which is usually stuff command staff would do in an actual battle or operational situation). The annoyance at 'hex tracking' in turn based ga...

I Want a Sandcastle, Not a Competitive Excercise

My problem with tactical and many strategic games is that I suck at multitasking and I am easily frustrated. It's not so much that I don't understand general tactical principles (force concentration) or common tactical tricks (defeat in detail, etc.) but that I have no concept of how to implement th...

Re: Sign on for the Pike and Shot Beta!

I have recently really gotten into pike & shot, I grabbed an Osprey book on the topics and John Tiller's Renaissance. I would definitely be interested in seeing how this turns out (or testing it, assuming it would work on my machine!)

Re: Something Not Eurocentric?

But scientists now are more PR-staff of the ruling oligarchy than seekers of truth. Heh, I am surprised to see someone acknowledge this. but you know, Universities have always been religious in their orientation, now they're just dishonest about it! Best wishes from Russia Russians, at least, tend ...

Something Not Eurocentric?

Strategy games tend to be super Eurocentric, and I am finding it boring. I mean, sure there are difference between English and French Knights but unless you're playing the 100 Years War it's pretty damn irrelevant set of military differences. Then you look at something like Civilization where 'India...

Re: Cataphracts

I have V1 of the print rules, but I am following this discussion with some interest because cataphracts are the main reason I got this game!

Re: Very New Player, Interested in Solo & PC

first question is, where are you as there could be a club near you that you could watch and get up to speed fast with. There was someone who posted the ability to print out figures from a printer to use as markers instead of miniatures. There is a ton of stuff on maxaxeman dot com He is very sarcas...

Very New Player, Interested in Solo & PC

I am very new to Field of Glory . I have the Ancients & Medieval rulebook, as well as several of the army books. I became interested in Field of Glory initially because I wanted something with a good deal of detail and versatility; I really like how the battle groups are broken down and dealt wi...

FoG A&M v. FoG R&N

I apologize for the somewhat obscure and abbreviated title, but I think you can figure it out. I am quite new to FoG, though I have a number of the army books. One thing I was wondering, as I was going over the rulebook, is to what extent the Renaissance and Napoleonic 'core rules' differ. Obviously...
