Sorry to double post.
But it would bring more involvement into the game. Having a League of Allies and recruiting their units, it would be like those states are assisting you, as was the case when the Persians invaded Greece and the city-states formed their Defensive Coalition.

Yea, Heavy Infantry are okay against Immortals, too bad that they get taken out by the time they close with them for melee. What is the benefit of being the Aeolians?
They get the same Cavalry units, the same Light Infantry, the same Skirmishers as the other Greek Ethnic Groups, but the best Heavy Infantry units they get are regular Hoplites.
