pontic army resources?
I've been looking around but perhaps not in the right places. I'm trying to find some descriptions of what Mithridates armies looked like and haven't been able to find anything. Is there a book?

Re: Polish Winged Hussars Value
Being better at impact isn't worth nearly as much as being better in melee. For 23 points per stand, impact mounted perhaps should be ++ at impact, that might be about right. DH just isn't afraid of them as is, but that would change if they were ++ at impact.

Re: Polish Winged Hussars Value
Against superior DH, the hussars aren't going to cause disruption on impact very often, and then they'll get chewed up. Against average it's more even, so it seems the hussars should cost about what average DH cost.

Renaissance Gendarmes - avg vs sup
Has anyone worked out whether 6 average gendarmes are about the equal of 4 superior? They cost about the same (90 vs 84). I know in games it's tough to get that kind of a one-on-one matchup, but theoretically speaking....

I'm very supportive of an electronic version, but it has to be printable.
I won't buy one that isn't.

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !
Some random observations: 4) An e-reader is no more cumbersome than a rule booklet on the gaming table. In fact it's more convenient when you can cart along all of rules, army list books, etc. Book marking important sections is dead easy. You can highlight sections and add notes (e.g., FAQ referenc...

Re: regimental ID cover of Duty & Glory
It is an odd depiction of French soldiers, perhaps? The French carried charges up until 1683 and at the end of 1683 the sword was put on a waistbelt. These have neither charges nor waistbelts. OTOH, uniforms were not specified until 1685, when Gardes were specified as wearing blue. The flag is indee...

romagnole pikemen - italian wars
Does anyone know what these guys really looked like? I only get references in fragments with no documentation. Most say red and white, some say slashed clothing.

Re: 30YW armour colour
I was looking at blackened armors in the museum in nuremberg earlier this year. They ranged from really black to something I'd describe as graphite, a darkish metallic gray. The black looked either like flat black paint or metallic black. Most of them were 16th century though some did go a little la...

Re: Arc of fire - Tercios to the side
RBS posted on the a while back. If i new how to search i would point to it. But essetentially he said the width counts as the front for measuring. So a properly based 15mm figure has a 20mm arc for base widths when shooting out its side of a tercio. Nope. See the thread Don linked. What you are pro...

Re: Pursuit of broken BG
Gendarmes etc must continue to pursue even when they lost contact with the broken BG, unless they pass a CMT to stop pursuing. But when do they take the CMT ? They take the CMT during the JAP. In our game this week my Gendarmes broke an enemy BG in his turn and pursued into difficult terrain, losin...

Actually, there are times when the dragoons will give you 8 dice! This is typically at a "--" when caught by enemy mounted. And actually it's only 6 because you've been disrupted from being charged in the rear....

Re: artillery in armies without firearms
you can recapture it but it will shoot as poor so re-rolling 6's for the rest of the game. Same applies to your opponent when he captures it According to the rules, you only regain control (so it can shoot) if you capture with a pike and/or shot battle group. So if your medium foot archers recaptur...

Yeah, it's really a mess. I'm hosting a tournament at the start of June and barring clarifications before then I think I'll just put in a tournament rule that artillery captured by mounted is immediately removed from play.

We use 40mm MUs on an 8x6 table and all works well. We did the same with the ancients set and it was fine.

artillery in armies without firearms
It looks like that if you have artillery in an army without firearms (well, without either pike and/or shot) when your artillery is captured, you can get it back, but it will never shoot again. Is this right?

Re: Mounted and captured artillery
Did an FAQ ever get written and did it clarify any of the above? A couple of new things came up. I captured an unsupported battery with some light horse. The Ottomans had some Azabs nearby which moved up and started shooting through the guns at my light horse that were in contact with the captured a...
