Re: Help, a tide of Obelisks
Ok, going back to when they first popped out their Obelisk, I sent a weak force to lure the one, then two, Obelisk's away. From the south I had a larger force push up and then after researching orbital deployment, just dropped Terminators and Dreadnaughts and bags of bricks around their city. I was ...

Help, a tide of Obelisks
My first game, so, yes, a rough start. Short Version: I am a Space Marine and being overwhelmed by a tide of Obelisks. Long Version: Regular difficulty, SM vs Orks, Orks, and Necrons. All AI. It was a slog, but I took out the orks and the Necrons had been contained. I pushed my way to their city, cl...

Re: Winning The Battle Of Lutter
Well done on your victory.
This scenario was great in that you learned how to use a large, but inferior army. I often expect a head to head slog in a scenario, and this wasn't that.

Checkerboard Formation
Checkerboard Formation Every try to use it as intended? When the front engages, what do the second and third row do? I often find myself filling gaps making me wonder why have them? 3-line system advantages[edit] Flexibility[edit] Some ancient sources such as Polybius seem to imply that the legions ...

Re: Winning The Battle Of Lutter
On your right, bring over your cavalry on your side of the river. The Imperial cavalry will line up, but not cross (usually) if it means charging into the river. Then swap your cavalry for your infantry. Enough to cover the area and leave no gaps. Once you have a firing line, the Imperial cavalry ca...

Re: All Ultramarines
And finished. Sorta. Losses were too much in Act 3 and I needed three Titans to keep up the momentum. I also needed the Scout titans in the defend the factory mission to block some bridges rapidly, but disbanded them after that. That said, an all (mostly) Ultra Marine army was much faster at cutting...

All Ultramarines
Based on someone else's report of doing an all Ultramarine army as Act 2 starts, I'm curious if people can give me some suggestions.
1- SM units best for taking on Ork super-tanks/stompas/gargants?
2- General advice.
3- Armored Nobs.
4- SM tanks seem fragile and need continual repair.

Re: AI suggestion
On the other hand, some of the missions if they had ultra-aggressive AI I might be unable to beat within the timelimit provided. The scenarios as is are based around the AI. Some of you may have cake-walked every scenario, but more than a few I had to get the hang of it to press on. On my second pla...

@Jeff
Thanks. One of my many hats I wear is writer, so I'm glad it was entertaining.
@Kerensy
Thanks! Keep it up.
@Shrike
Ah! I did play the training missions, I may have rocked n' rolled too well on the last one.

Re: Act 2 Mission 2 (Breakthrough Operation) seems impossibl
Thanks for that! I love the wide selection of units. However, in missions like Act 2 Mission 2, the time-limit is so tight that I find you need the most efficient units possible or it's a real challenge. That said, I like to experiment with the other tank varieties and assault bikes and so forth, bu...

Re: Aerial units
For transports not 'fighting' with the unit, an easy fix would be to just have the unit's statistics slightly modified if they have a transport, or in the case of a Land Raider, greatly modified. It would then justify the points and might be easier to do than making a dedicated transport unit.

Re: Act 2 Mission 2 (Breakthrough Operation) seems impossibl
I'll update this. I just wanted to share something amusing. I have come close to beating this one, a turn or two away. A bridge too far as they say. My infantry slog on, my tanks thunder away. Close... and yet. I read everyone's comments and frowned. How did you get Space Marines? Hey! On the unit s...

+1
Skirmish with random maps or pre-set selections for single or two player would add variety and replayability.

Re: Campaign Battles Ending early?
Act 1: The find the two downed craft Mission went funny. Swarms of orks, and I was unable to hold both objectives, but it still ended in victory. That whole mission felt a touch off. The Mission where you need to clear a path for the Titan. Long before the Titan reached the objective I had my cavalr...
