Re: Slitherine Holiday Sale 2018
Are there any plans for the sale to return to Steam as there were a few titles I was going to pick-up but the sale had ended buy the time I finally pressed the checkout button. Failing that it s there a list of which games you can ban direct but then activate on Steam?

Re: Fog II and Pike and Shot II?
Got to say that I prefer the look of FoG II to P&S I think because it recreates better the look of table-top games that I used to play when I was younger. It’s the same with Conflict of Heroes ... the chit view for me all the way!

Sorry, I should have made that clearer. How do I assign generals to maximise the use of them.jomni wrote:Actually you assign troops to a generals’ command. Then move the general to other units under his command.

How to assign generals?
Well reading a few threads here I suddenly realised you could reassign generals during the deployment phase. Has anyone got some tips on the ‘best’ way to do this?

Re: FOG II. Could this be the game for me ?
I'm up for a game if you want, any side and no hurry :D Thanks, nice one! I've just posted a challenge, password = Alessandro. I've chosen to play Galatians against Macedonians. Hope that's okay, let me know if not! Cheers, Bombax. I very much hope you enjoy it as I’m playing a game with devoncop a...

What battles for MP?
As the topic says. I’m looking into playing a few MP games but I’m unsure as this best wat to get into it. I’m basically looking for a game where I won’t have a certain part of my body handed to me on a plate but at the same time learn how to play the game better.

Re: What module is next?
Must be one of the few games where people want DLC'S and not feel "ripped off". I would like to see Medieval. But if the Devs follow the time line then we will all know whats coming next. For those new to these Forums. RBS will never tell you whats coming next. The game is just released. ...

Speaking as a newbie and putting the historical part to one side. I've played a few of battles both against and with them and it adds to the variety of gameplay.

I certainly will if I see something unusual again. As a slight aside it’s very refreshing to see the dev. team interacting with the community so much.

The AI is most unlikely to chase light foot with legions. I suspect that was a player, not the AI.[/quote] The ones I remember, in the context of human memory being quite fallible, where an elephant and pike unit (both on flanks) becoming preoccupied with light units. It could of course by my unders...

Re: Ideas for how to learn the game?
. One thing it does seem to make a habit of is its powerful units being too easily distracted by weaker units. I’ve decided not to try and employ this as a tactic as it doesn’t seem to be a good one for real opponents. Once my skirmishers are out of ammo that's the best thing I've found to do with ...

Re: Ideas for how to learn the game?
Thanks for all the advice and ideas. Currently I’m concentrating on trying to get more to grips with deployment (use of terrain) and having an overall plan but for the moment I still let the army be auto-filled. The AI seems decent enough, playing at level III, to give a challenge but not be overwhe...

Watch YouTube? Though some of them are also clueless on intricacies of the rules. The problem I find with YT is as newbie how do you sort out what it and isn’t worth watching. Something AGEOD does which I wish more companies did: make detailed tutorial videos by people that know how to play the gam...

Re: Heavy Infantry or Go Home
While there are plenty of nations in the game quite a few of them have pathetically weak rosters, the Arabs being one of them. Unless you want to play against a similarly equipped army in a skirmisher battle you can't really use them which is a shame as it would add more variety rather than always ...

I have Steam, but I bought the game direct from Slitherine. I was just wondering if there was any reason for me to register it on Steam. In a word convenience. You can (re)install it with the click of a button without having to worry about anything and Steam will also handle any updates when they b...

It can be useful to create a blank scenario as a sandbox to test out various units and terrains. Set it as a Hotseat game to control both sides. Any time you want to check something out you can return to the editor and add to the scenario whatever troops or terrain you want to test. I do rather lik...

Re: Ideas for how to learn the game?
I learned most by diving directly in MP skirmish battles. Your opponents are strong and you can learn from their moves. I learned more in one MP battle then in a thousand tutorials. I do fancy a bit of multiplayer when I’ve learnt the ropes a bit more. One thing I’m weary of, after playing Combat M...
