Mac: Full-screen and switching to other applications

On a Macbook Air (1.8GHz i7, 4GB), If I am playing the game full-screen (not in a window) then cmd-tab does not do anything. As far as I can see, the only way to do anything else on my machine (such as reading the manual in pdf form) is to quit the game. Is this true, or am I missing something? Is t...
