Re: What is the Worst Unit?
I founded that infantry units superior and protected are among the best, so army lists with that kind of unit are generally strong adversaries. "...many of the best armies and nerfed armies had lots of cheaper units. Scots Irish and Romano British were tournament beasts, Raw Shieldwalls had to ...

Re: What is the Worst Unit?
Part of the discussion was generated by my thoughts about the forum's idea that every low quality unit are better than the higher ones for the cost; instead, I think that armies based on medium and high quality units or a balanced mix with less lower than higher, is one of the best path to victory. ...

Re: What is the Worst Unit?
I'm impressed: your position (enough cheap units to have flankers, reserves and elite troops) is structured and interesting, but my experience is different in 2 ways. I used armies focused on buying only expensive units and the result is 1 loss, 1 draw 3 wins every 5 simulations. Impressive, the opp...

Re: What is the Worst Unit?
With apologies to Slim Pickens' character (Major "King" Kong) in the movie Dr. Strangelove:
“Shoot, a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.”
[Edit] I guess the only way to form that army would be in the game editor?
[/quote]
Great quote!
Yes it is.

Re: What is the Worst Unit?
Saka foot of Achemenid lists in TT mod are surely one of the worst unit: basically a sub Sparabara kind of infantry but with a lack of cohesion that makes this unity the worst combination of acrhers and rabble. I disagree with that. They cost 4 points less than an Average massed bowmen unit(!!!!), ...

Re: What is the Worst Unit?
Hello, interesting list. Scythe Chariots - The only truly bad unit that I can think of, thanks to all the recosting that has been done over the years. Agree. Swiss pikes - Hard to get value out of them in MP as they can be neutralised by cheaper units - perhaps Harvey will disagree after a season of...

Re: 2 questions
" Very unlikely, I think. The FOG philosophy is to go with the most likely (in our opinion) interpretation, rather than going with a less likely interpretation for the sake of (probably spuriously) increasing unit variety." I wrote a speculative interpration, not a request or a suggestion:...

Re: 2 questions
Mr. Scott, first of all: thanks for the detailed answer. In both cases I think you're wright, and the question about Rorarii is more difficult to clarify: I don't know the philologic origin of the word (maybe a latinist can help to find the meaning); I also founded these 2 sources on the internet ht...

Re: Syrian Spearmen: Worst of all Worlds?
SnuggleBunnies "Large unit size does make them immune to the loss of Combat Strength Modifier that casualties from missile fire or melee would cause until they have lost 33% of their men." Maybe not so bad in defense, on attack they are a slightly better rabble. "So, have them face of...

Re: Syrian Spearmen: Worst of all Worlds?
You're wright, and they can be simultaneasly offensive spearmen and a bit cheaper.
P.s.: Sammy Hagar says the opposite in Van Halen.

Best combined armies list
Hello, I have 2 questions about dream teams! 1)Which can be in Time warp module the best possible combinations of allied armies a)before and b)after gunpowder? For me: a)Crusader 1155-1291 + Armenia or Ilkhanid + Tatar; b)Polish 1455-1500 + Lithuanian. 2)This is a sort of dream: which can be the bes...

Hello, ancient sources claimed that Samnites had 2 ranks of Legio Linteata: silver and gold; the roman armies before the Gaio Mario reform, had some units called Roarii, the elite of the Triarii. This 2 units can be added to Samnites and Roman? Furthermore, there are some other historically improvem...
