Mrs W may be right but I have heard it goes to fund their ice cream habit.

Re: Something Not Eurocentric?

Chariots of War is one of my favourite games. That's beginning at the dawn of history -2500 BC and with the earliest civilizations North Africa, Anatolia, Caucasus, and Mesopotamia. It is a shame that it doesn't extend to the far east or India but I love that game nevertheless. I keep hoping that Sl...

Re: To board or not to board (game)

On the ASL front, there is quite a busy ASL forum over at Gamesquad. I don't now if you are familiar with it. You might be able to sell your ASL stuff there. Never went the ASL route myself. Apart from a brief encounter with SPWaW many years ago(and which I have never been able to run properly) I ha...

Re: To board or not to board (game)

Mrs W,

Your posts are never boring.

My solution to the board game v computer game problem was The Operational Art of War. Board game and computer game combined in perfect harmony.

Heaven. :)

Steve

Single player. I would be a very erratic multiplayer person and that would not be fair on any of my opponents.

Re: How often have you formatted reinstalled an OS?

I think the real problem is that he is in no way computer savvy. Not everyone is - especially the older gamers. I am lucky, I have been playing around with computers all my working life and they don't hold any terrors for me. I used to do a small class at my local library to help people use their co...

Re: android tablets

DSWargamer, I do not see any reason to be concerned. Change is inevitable and a necessary fact of life. War games are being produced for iPad, Android, and Windows Tablets - they are being produced for PCs, Macs, and Unix installations. There has always been a huge diversity of tastes within the war...

Re: android tablets

DSWargamer, While I understand and appreciate your position, I do not understand why it must be an either/or thing. Why must the old grogs suffer to allow tablet war gaming to flourish? I would like to see everyone provided with what they enjoy - you, me, old grogs, new grogs, and the people who lik...

+1

It's very difficult just to pick one. Oh, and with the Dark Ages a very close second.

Re: Stress and how to escape into a wargame

DSWargamer, PDF manuals give you the ability to search terms and they are (sort of ok) to read. But I miss just being able to take the manual to bed with me and have a good read before going to sleep. That's a good way to unwind after a stressful day. Oh, and beer and pizza for me. Re: Recommend a military history book . . .

Guys, A useful reference work is Timelines of War - David Brownstone and Irene Franck. It is a large format book, quite thick and it covers global military history from 100,000 BC to 1994 AD (the year it was published). The notes are very short, as you might expect, but it covers just about everythi...

Scenarios

Guys, I have just bought the game with the Rise of Rome expansion pack. I shall add the others as funds allow. I am having a lot of fun with the game. I really do llike this one. There seems to be a fair few scenarios available from the scenario forum but how do I tell which scenario goes with which...
