Re: Scenario - Mockern, 16 Oct 1813

Surely you'd rate Jean-Dominique Compans as better than merely 'competent'? (even allowing for his rather despicable conduct in 1815).

Re: Anglo-Portugese comments

Good comments Alastair and Peter. I think Fletcher's 'Galloping at Everything' is a must read for anyone interested in the Peninsular War or Waterloo. Critically, though, the amount of cavalry available to the Anglo-Portugese army was very small by continental standards. Even at Salamanca, Wellingto...

Re: Be nice to the dutch-belgian 1815 army

Unit cohesion : yur point is very interesting as it was the same for the british, the prussians and the french ! many where green units even the scott greys It varied a lot with the British. There were some fairly green British battalions (i.e. 3/14th, who were nicknamed "the peasants" be...

Re: Be nice to the dutch-belgian 1815 army

I have no idea what the list designers are thinking. And while there are some examples of Dutch-Belgian units fighting well, there are also examples of units not fighting so well! For me the issue is unit cohesion. This is not a matter of individual courage. Ardant duPicq noted how "Four brave ...

Anglo-Portugese comments

Some comments after going through the Anglo-Portugese 1810-11 list: British Light Infantry – what are these supposed to represent? The only Light Infantry Brigades were the untested brigade in 7th Division (which was not veteran or with rifles), the KGL Green Rascals (who are covered elsewhere in th...

Quick start questions

Just preping for a game on Saturday: Unit formations - just confirming - cavalry and French infantry can't form line - only Austrian infantry? I assume that is an 1813 conscript thing preventing conscripts from forming line? Movement: Austrian infantry move 4MU. Presumably because they are in line -...

Thanks Terry,

With plastic miniatures on plastic bases bonded by plastic cement, rebasing armies isn't an option!

So a unit using 45mm bases will be 6 bases - both infantry and cavalry?
How are artillery based?

Basing 28mm

We use Perry miniatures based on the 45mm plastic bases in the boxes (infantry six to a base, four or six bases to a unit). Will our armies be compatible for FoGN?

I used Companion Miniatures.
They use the same designer as Foundry (Mark Copplestone - when he left Foundry he took the originals with him, and sold them to Companion Miniatures!) but are a lot cheaper.

Converting my WAB 1st Crusade into FoG

Hi,

What are the base sizes for the various troops (Crusader Knights, turcopoles, pilgrims, spearmen, and crossbowmen)? And how many troops per base?

Many thanks

Paul
