Re: Fast & Sneaky Balanced Tournament

Game started.

Orange (allies) Gort (Germans)

Gort, you accepted two of my allied games. Did you want to play both or was that a mistake? Might be confusing for tournament tracking?

Re: Achievement/stars questions

Jcb, been there! MJ, the missions are great and get harder. Arnhem was memorable and took me about 3 times to earn all of my stars. most of the time I am just to impatient when playing AI. I suppose I dont fear the AI ambush or defense so I rush right in and lose stars! i really have to concentrate ...

Re: What's Your Fav Map/Scenario?

I havent played Ortona yet. I'll have to try it. Yeah, the fast and sneaky and armor versions of meeting engagement add a cool twist. I am playing a guy now that had 3 king tigers, 4 panthers, tiger, 2 wespes and still more. Notice I did say had. I've never encountered nor did I think you could even...

Re: What's Your Fav Map/Scenario?

I just recently started a City River game for the first time. Its fun although I'm not sure if I am doing to well! It reminds me of the last fighting scene in Saving Private Ryan. Trying to cross that bridge is a B$&@?!!. I'll have to try On The Beaches now that you have mentioned it.

Re: Rankings and Stats

Thanks GL88. Your refinement to my suggestion is a better idea. Also, I totally agree with your previous post regarding ranking. So many variables to consider and once you think the variables have been figured accurately, someone will complain that a certain map or scenario or opponent should be cal...

Re: Rankings and Stats

Hey All, Besides "winning and losing" stats it would be cool to have stats like games played (visible to opponent) and average plays per week or something so we could decide whether or not we wanted to play that specific person. Number of games alone would give you a fairly good sense of w...

What's Your Fav Map/Scenario?

Hey all, I'm sure this has been asked before bit I haven't witnessed one lately. So I ask, what is your favorite map/scenario and why? Right now (keep in mind I only have about 60 games under my belt) I keep going back to Meeting Engagement Redux. For me it feels like a very well balanced map with p...

Re: Anti tank tactic

I'd have to agree with letting the tactic stand. Infinite .50 for tanks would give them too much power. The better idea is to better conceal your armor or plan your attacks so that you dont end the turn with an exposed tank. I agree with tmoj, gort and others on this one with all due respect. When I...

Re: Waipoints

Waypoints would be cool if done right. When I do what John is describing I tend to lose tiles and not be able to complete the movement I was envisioning. If I can't find the right path and resort to tile by tile movement, there is a loss of tiles. It's a toughy but I actually agree with the game in ...

Re: Market garden iPad mission 5 cannot win

Btw, I think this was a carry over mission. I went back and mastered the mission prior so that I lost only about 3-5 units and kept both of my jeeps. This helps big time when defending the bridge. If you have a big enough force, in the right places and plenty of patience, you will lose less than 10 ...

Re: Battle Notes

Yes GL88! Exactly. You could also use it to keep track of air or arty strikes so you know about when to expect the next round. You could keep track of how many units you have scouted in an area so you know who's left after the attack starts. I often run in to the scenario where I meant to move other...

Battle Notes

Hello everyone, Has anyone played the older versions of Sim City? There was a feature (it may still exist not sure) that allowed you to post notes in the form of signs throughout the territory. It was a useful tool that allowed you to plan ahead and not build something on a site you may want to use ...

Re: Market garden iPad mission 5 cannot win

Hi there, I'm not exactly sure I am commenting on the right mission but I will try. Is it Arnhem (sp?) you are playing? If so, it took me me a couple of times to beat it. I consolidated my forces to be tight right around the bridge. Machine guns in the two nests pointing toward the city. Not the far...

Re: On board artillery

Sure, I would be interesed in a lesson. Full disclosure, I've never played as Axis on this map but the veteran players that I have played make it extremely difficult for Allies because it is hard to flank the more powerful Axis tanks. I've won several as Allies but I think it was more because of the...

Re: On board artillery

Gort and Marty make really valid points in regards to situational awareness and weariness about moving forward after being hit with mortar fire. Slitherine has it right too because mortars usually take maybe 10 points from a tank. Several times I've had them take no points at all.
