Re: Army composition to aim for going into GC 44 & 45 East?
Another obviously lacking area is SPAA. I've avoided SPAA so far because I feel like anything it can do a fighter can do a thousand times better, so if I'm going to buy a SPAA unit I might as well just buy a fighter. Not really. At least on normal or higher IMHO. A fighter heavy core is going to su...

Re: Flexiblity
Panzer General II also allowed for custom e-files which dramatically changed how the game should be played. With certain "HEFiles" units were given much more realistic relative prestige costs, meaning you're forced to build a much more balanced, historically-accurate force in order to do w...

Re: Desert movement cost
If I understood correctly : 2(foot)+5(wheel)=7 which amounts to 8 - 20%(=6.4) rounded up ? No. Either foot or wheel movement are used in a single movement phase, not both. The 20% for wheeled isn't a 20% penalty to movement. The 20%, like every other number in the table, is a cost. Instead of costi...

Re: Desert movement cost
Ah I think I understand now. The movement cost is 50% of the unit's movement points for leg units and 20% of the unit's movement points for wheeled units, so infantry will always be able to move 2 hexes across desert regardless of their base movement points, while trucks and wheeled recons will alwa...

Desert movement cost
I'm just starting the Afrika Korps campaign and wanted to learn how different movement types are affected by desert terrain, so I went to check out the wiki (https://panzercorps.fandom.com/wiki/Terrain) but it has negative values under desert for most movement types. Is that a typo, or do negative v...

Re: Nashorn.
I purchased one when they first became available, though I'm not sure it was worth it. It has pretty good firepower, but its armor is paper-thin, so it can also take a lot of damage if it isn't always backed up by artillery and attacking suppressed targets. The stugs I have are definitely better all...

Re: GC43 Oboyan and Oboyan D prestige rewards
Oboyan is a tough one, it took me a couple of tries to get a DV I would suggest not assaulting Oboyan head-on, as attacking an entrenched enemy across a river is a death sentence, especially when they have such heavy AA I highly suggest using a bridge engineer to cross the Psel early in the scenario...

Re: Combat Equation
Beyond the initiative cap and the use of "Close Defence" instead of "Ground Defence", are there any other advantages that infantry get for fighting vs non-infantry in close terrain? . . . Infantry Init is not capped. So they shoot first. With CD=0, shooting first is a big deal. ...

Re: Third range hero in a row
Don't underestimate the usefulness of a 17cm or 15cm towed artillery with a range hero. Having 4 range makes it *a lot* easier to suppress enemy AA and Artillery without putting your own Artillery at risk of counter-battery fire. Also, as your line advances, a 4-range artillery will be able to get i...

Is it worthwhile to upgrade Wurfrahmens to Panzerwerfers?
I'm just about to start Kursk Armory South in GC '43, so Panzerwerfers have been available to me for a while now but I haven't upgraded my Wurfrahmens yet because the upgrade comes with such a big decrease in attack strength for them. The improved defence seems somewhat pointless, as you still need ...

Re: Army composition to aim for going into GC 44 & 45 East?
Hey eskuche, thanks for the input! To respond to your points: 1. I'm playing on General, however I have modified the soft cap to be 800-1600 instead of 400-800 2. See point 1. I mainly did this because I played through 39-41 and part of 42 not even knowing about the soft cap, then when I saw my pres...

Army composition to aim for going into GC 44 & 45 East?
I'm just starting Oboyan in GC '43 East, I'm quickly reaching (if not already past) the point where I feel like my army composition should be more or less finalized, as any new units I buy at this point likely won't have enough time to built up 4+ stars of exp before the end of '45. So I'm wondering...

efiles & campaigns similar to Adlerkorps for PG2?
I used to play a lot of Panzer General 2, and one of the things I really liked about it was the ability to use custom efiles and campaigns to make things more challenging and realistic. The Adlerkorps efile in particular had much higher costs for the best equipment, so you really had to much more ca...

Re: Is the upgrade to Panzer IIIN worth the large decrease in initiative?
I haven't actually used grenadiers at all yet - I just got my first one as a "free" unit in Voronezh (with a +2 movement hero, so it should actually be able to keep up with my other forces). I mainly avoided them because of their 2 movement points. Pionieres seem to have enough other bonus...

Re: Is the upgrade to Panzer IIIN worth the large decrease in initiative?
Thanks for the advice. If I play the GC a second time, I'll probably do something similar. It was kind of disappointing to get so many SE infantry, but I had never considered disbanding them in 39/40 to be able to get more SE tanks. For Sevastopol, I upgraded one of my PzIIIJ/1 to a PzIIIN (one with...

Is the upgrade to Panzer IIIN worth the large decrease in initiative?
I've just reached Sevastopol in GC '42, and have three Panzer IIIJ/1 that I can now upgrade to Panzer IIIN, but given the significant decrease in initiative that comes with the upgrade (from 8 to 5), I'm wondering if it's even worth it? I feel like that decrease in initiative, combined with the decr...

How many units may be deployed in each scenario of all DLC campaigns?
I was able to find this post which shows the number of units that can be deployed in each scenario for a specific path through the GC East campaigns, but what about the GC West campaigns, Allied Corps, Afrika Corps, Soviet Corps, and all of the paths not taken by the user who made that post in the G...
