Re: Azul Infanterie is utterly hilarious in certain situations
Give the heroes to a Tiger I But in this particular case, Dir is an infantry hero and tanks already get overrun, so the only hero you could give is ignore entrenchment. That might be ok if the Tiger had vigilant, but I prefer giving ignore entrenchment to Azul infantry. Unlike tanks, they can acces...

Re: AO: how many Panzer "divisions" to aim for by the mid to late game?
Thanks for the replies. I've gotten up to Kursk in AO 1943 and it seems like about two Panzer "divisions" is what you can field (with a decent air wing). The fact that core slot attribute of units increases with technology limits any increase that the total number of units you can field. I...

Re: Azul Infanterie is utterly hilarious in certain situations
Yes, I've always given Azul infantry "ignore entrenchment" heroes - they perform like pionieres. I keep Dir for a pioniere, though, as they need the speed. I used to give my overrun heroes to recons for clean up duty, but now think pionieres and Azul infantry may be better homes for them a...

Axis Operations - Historical or alternative path?
I've had a blast playing through AO from SCW and have now reached the fork in the road in AO 1943 where I can choose the historical or alternative path but I can't decide which to follow. What did other players pick in their first playthrough and, if you did ultimately played both, which did you lik...

Re: AO: how many Panzer "divisions" to aim for by the mid to late game?
I think that historical cores are perfectly viable in all campaigns,... Yes, one thing I like about the game is how it simulates combined arms - a historical panzer division works well in game, and in reality it seems like the allies also gravitated to similar formations (I think the US had combat ...

Re: Elite: Ghost Division - Historical Accuracy Challange
I've been enjoying your AARs, Tassadar: I often consult them when going through the same scenarios myself. On the issue of Tigers in Kursk, a google search tells me that the 3rd company of the 503 Heavy Tank Battaltion was attached to the 7th Division in Kursk. I don't have very authoritative source...

Re: AO: how many Panzer "divisions" to aim for by the mid to late game?
Thanks, 6-7 tanks woulde probably constitute two divisions in my mind. Another way to ask the question, is how many battle groups do scenarios typically encourage? So far, I found dividing my forces into two battle groups that head off to different objectives usually works well. PC1 DLC Prokhorovka ...

AO: how many Panzer "divisions" to aim for by the mid to late game?
I've very belatedly started playing Axis Operations. I just finished the Spanish Civil War, which was awesome, and am up to Poland in 1939. I wonder for long term planning, given the core slots in later DLCs, what you should be working towards in terms of the size of your Corps? Following Horseman's...

Re: Do you use Stukas? (how to?)
I used strategic bombers to counter monster tanks a lot in PzC and Panzer General type games. Deplete their ammo and suppress them to make them retreat and surrender. You can still do that in PzC2 but it seems a little bit less effective. Units resupply more easily (unless encircled), you have to do...

Re: New to Panzer Corps in 2023
Leader traits are a fun, impactful and interesting side of the game - I would not avoid them just because you think they are "cheats" that the AI doesn't have. You only get 2 points by default, so it's not that broken. Changing the settings to give yourself more points IS lowering the diff...

Re: Do you use Stukas? (how to?)
OP, what campaign are you playing? In the base campaign, stukas are my most valued unit - at least early on (when German tanks are nothing special). If you run into a Matilda II or Char B in 1940 or a T-34 in 1941, stukas are your best response. They've been that way in every Panzer General type gam...

Returning player - what's the verdict on Axis Operations?
I bought the Spanish Civil War DLC when it came back but did not get into it as my old computer struggled with the graphics. I now have a new computer and there is the Steam sale so was wondering about other DLCs. What do players think of them? I loved the PzC Grand Campaign and liked some of the in...

Re: Axis Operations 1941 Development Diary
Nice write up. I like the sound of the big scale of the Greece scenario (and the 20 scenarios!). One thing I loved about the original Panzer General was the large scale of the scenarios like Norway. Subsequent games like PG2, PC and PC2 improved the mechanics and gameplay but often went for a smalle...

Re: Heroes assignment
I began in SCW and off the bat (thanks Killer Team) I got 2 Zero Slots plus Double Attack! What phenomenal luck! My next three heroes were No Surrender (blah), Lightning Attack (good), and another Double Attack (hurray!). But I'm near the end of the campaign now and I have gotten total shit since. ...

Re: Should Panthers be cheaper?
ANother funny thing about the what ifs of WW2 is that they almost exclusively deal with the Germans...never what if Britain did xyz or something. Getting way off topic, but the most common what ifs about Britain in WW2 are (a) what if it sued for peace after France fell; (b) what if it declared war...

Re: Should Panthers be cheaper?
I guess the only real way to stop getting only the best all the time Would be to have strength point limits for practically everything, so treat all units like prototypes where you only have limited availability but more generous in SP allocation. This could go someway to say there's only so many T...

Re: Unit scale
The WW2 German 105mm artillery piece had a range of about 10,000 yards, and in PC2 their range is 3 hexes which is typical of other nation's 105's too. Using those maths as a rough guide, each hex is therefore about 3,300 yards wide, or almost 2 miles. That's an ingenious way to estimate hex size. ...

From a Beta Sticky, should be updated and added to main forum Am I right in thinking the beta forum is not public? I can't see it. For the PzC1 GC, the beta forum was opened. Re: SCW - What's the Point?
Instead of defend, what i rarely use, i would need a new order: "hold without touching my prestige". Prestige is my reputation in the german OKW, why should that be needed for the spanish to get supplies ? (which the germans didnt deliver - or did they drop large amounts of supplies durin...

Which favorite GC scenarios would you like to see in Axis Operations?
One thing I really liked about the GC was the variety of scenarios - it stopped it getting stale. But there were some which stood out. I know not everyone will agree, but there are some of my favorites that I would like to see again in Axis Operations: 1. City fights: the Stalingrad scenarios were p...
