Peter Darman has written a series of books about the Catalan Great Company as well!! Pretty interesting work, he has done some research about the almogovars.

Joch you are correct, I got hasty, but it is sort of well sourced that the French knights rode down some of the Genoese.

The French at Agincourt(?) are supposed to have ridden down some Genoese crossbowmen. That is pretty well attested in the sources.

The Arsuf battle was sort of atypical though, It wasn't usual for the Hospitallers to be doing the rear guard. The crusader armies had to use a different set of formations because of so much cavalry opposition, so I think you can't make any large generalizations from Arsuf, because they were attacke...

Templars, meh, the Knights of St. John of the Hospital are still around. Bosworth must have been the proverbial near run thing. I think you could do a neat campaign with the Catalan company.

Ivan the Terrible's dear old mother was a Glinskii. So that would be early 16th century. A non sequitor but why teach history for years if you can't pontificate now and then.
