Re: Is no one excited about Pike and Shot Campaigns?

I'm excited but concerned there is no information, just a few days away, on how much this will cost for those of us who have the original game (or how much it will cost period) or how we get an upgrade from the original game to this new version (especially on Steam).

Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!

Great news, great game! And just in time, I was running out of historical battles :) Hopefully the campaign system will not be too micro intensive and most of the focus will be on battles. Unlike Total War games where campaigns draaaaaaaaaaaaaag. And hopefully it will produce interesting battles. I...

Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!

That sounds absolutely fantastic! Can't wait to see all of that. The game is already outstanding and a campaign will only make it stellar! By the way, to add to Waldorf's concern, do those of us who already have the base game + Tercio to Salvo have to rebuy the game or will this count as a dlc we ca...

Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!

This sounds outstanding! But the title says 1494-1698 and I don't see a campaign here for that later period that would take us to 1698 (Nine Years War). Is there to be one?

Re: Later 17th century cavalry proportions

Ah that work by Chandler was exactly what I was going to make for when I got home! Excellent that someone posted that! He's a good source and that book should be in the library of anyone interested in late 17th/early 18th century warfare.

Re: Later 17th century cavalry proportions

Oh well I suspected that game engine limitations would play a part. That's not a problem for me really. Neerwinden's numbers would be pretty hard to replicate for any game engine out there right now I suspect. I know I'll be fine with as close as you can get it. I'll see if my other books give the p...

Re: Later 17th century cavalry proportions

I'll quote Lynn on that subject then (pg.68): "As a general rule, cavalry made up about one-third of field armies. French armies had about 30 percent horsemen during the Nine Years War and this figure only shrank slightly to 27 per cent during the War of The Spanish Succession." As for arm...

Re: Later 17th century cavalry proportions

Oh more from Lynn and I may need to quote him here (from pg.60): "Infantry were organized as regiments but the tactical unit was the battalion. An infantry regiment could contain one or more battalions. The number of men in a battalion varied, but regulations usually set the size of a French ba...

Re: Later 17th century cavalry proportions

Just so happens I have Professor John A. Lynn's work "The Wars of Louis XIV: 1667-1714" next to me at work. I know he gives the sizes of battalions for French foot and squadron sizes for French cavalry. I have a modest War of the Spanish Succession library at home so when I get off work I'...

Re: Pike and Shot suggestions

I'm really tempted to buy this. Looks a fun title in an era that interests me. I was wondering if there were any plans to add the wars and campaigns of the age of Louis XIV? His wars with the Dutch, The Grand Alliance, The Williamite Wars for example? That was a fascinating period and I think worth...

God I love this game! Got it over the weekend and it is so easy to figure out and get started. Last night spent a lovely hour slicing the Belgium and the Ardennes (on lowest setting as I am dipping my toe in and expect to up the notch as I go along). I'll log on to Gamespot this weekend and give it ...

Integrated Graphics

Hi, this looks like a great game and while I have a PC with a lot of hard drive space and memory I also have a crappy integrated card ( I can run Mount and Blade Warband, and some of the Total War stuff pretty well) and I wondered will this game present a problem (Europa Universalis III did)?
