Re: Asian military innovations in the late Middle Ages.
I've been enjoying the new units in Sublime Porte over the last couple of days, particularly the Ottomans, however I have to admit to being a little bit disappointed with the lack of new unit models for the Timurids and Persianate factions in the game. At the moment the same models represent most Mi...

Re: Asian military innovations in the late Middle Ages.
I think one of the interesting things in the Chinese context, and perhaps other Asian contexts as well although I'm less familiar, is that military actions seem to be more often conceptualized in terms of campaigns, rather than discreet battles. This leads to less of a focus on the kinds of tactics ...

Re: Asian military innovations in the late Middle Ages.
Documentation is so lacking in all areas that it wouldn't be historically immersive. Exotic, certainly. I think the website I linked provides strong evidence for the heavier cavalry in 14th century Persia, and the article on gunpowder is fairly convincing in arguing that cannons were used in 15th c...

Asian military innovations in the late Middle Ages.
With the announcement of Rise of the Swiss, it would be my guess that there is one more DLC for medieval, dealing with the 14th and 15th centuries in Asia. I'm personally looking forward to this because the Ottomans have always been one of my favourite armies and I'm excited to use their combination...

Bit of a rerun of Pelennor Fields with the armoured lancers making a bold effort against the Khorosanian Mumakil and horse archers, but unfortunately with no Aragorn to come and bail them out.

Re: Game mode with camps
Perhaps camps could work as stationary Standard Wagons. They would provide a positive bonus to the army until routed (sacked) when they would then provide a penalty to the owning army. I quite like that idea, it seems like a big problem medieval and ancient commanders had was their soldiers falling...

Re: Game mode with camps
I should have been a little more clear in my original post. What I had in mind was actually something like a mode which is basically the same as open battle, but with each side having a camp in their deployment zone, similar to those in some of the epic battles. It's more about flavour than wanting ...

Game mode with camps
Are there any plans to add a battle mode with army camps to the game? It strikes me the a significant feature of a lot of field battles in the medieval and ancient eras is fighting over and pillaging of the other side's camp. Open battle mode doesn't depict this however. I was wondering if implement...

Re: What armies/units are you looking forward to in future DLCs?
I can't wait to play the Ottoman army of the fifteenth century. Ever since I read Ismail Kadare's book The Siege it's been one of my favourite historical armies, it's so colourful and has so many specialized units and auxiliaries.
