Re: Rear attacks on Keil probably need a few adjusts
Personally I lobbied for something a bit more granular than the current Death Star Trench Run required to "flank" a Keil from rear. A significant (~50-100 POA) penalty to Keil's POA against impact and melee when receiving from what is usually a side-flanking attack would have made them a ...

Re: Rear attacks on Keil probably need a few adjusts
I think the Keil unit is probably balanced as it is currently. Okay, only a rear charge can make it drop cohesion but the cost is 148 pts? Super expensive. There are other cheaper pike units on the field to support it as well. As I already said above, the nerf should be come along with the reductio...

Re: Rear attacks on Keil probably need a few adjusts
Historically not the kind of unit you could kill in one shot. To beat Keils, you had to wear it, harass it, tire it again and again for hours (thanks to many cannon shots, cav charges, arrow volleys, etc.). So cohesion drop shouldn't be easy (or easier) to achieve. That's what the game should show ...

Re: Rear attack on Keil probably need an adjust
Btw I read our highly venerable SnuggleBunnies provides several great videos on his youtube channel on how to defeat the Keils as they are currently. I definitely know how to defeat them, and I have defeated them several times, especially when you have a Knightly Lancer or a Horse Archery army. Iro...

Re: Rear attack on Keil probably need an adjust
It’s been discussed at length. The current version seems to be the best balance achievable. Some find this unit already too weak as is. Hard to balance this unit. Sometimes they are as slippery as a bar soap you try to grab with your wet hands. As you put it, "some players constantly adjust th...

Rear attacks on Keil probably need a few adjusts
In the current version of the game, a successful attack on Keil to make its cohesion drop is by charging right into its rear when it's engaged. However, in actual combat, this attack is difficult to execute and can create some weird and ahistorical situations. It is also exploited in some multiplaye...

Sorry. I made a mistake with the VC in the modded version of the scenario. Now I fixed it. Yandex link is the same (I uploaded the fixed version today). Re: Genoese Army Lists
May I ask you for a read list about the medieval Genoese army mister? The Genoese army on land seems been largely neglected by many authors, or they only focus on the crossbowmen but never mention the other parts. I am afraid I cannot recall where I got that piece of information. That is extremely ...

Re: Extend the Drilled and the Undrilled traits to the Cavalry and the Medium Foot?
I think you could solve this problem in another way, just by adding the Unmaneuverable trait to (...) some cavalry(e.g. Mounted Hirdsmen/Housecarl, Early Roman/Greek Armoured Cavalry ), then remove the Unmaneuverable trait of some cavalry(e.g. Ordonnance Franch/Burgundian Men-at-Arms). Making Knigh...

Re: Extend the Drilled and the Undrilled traits to the Cavalry and the Medium Foot?
Reducing the number of troop classes with distinct Drilled and Undrilled varieties in the computer version of FOG was a deliberate design decision, and not an omission. We do not plan to add it back. It could, of course, be modded in. I think it might be solved in another way, like adding the Unman...

Re: Extend the Drilled and the Undrilled traits to the Cavalry and the Medium Foot?
As a FOG player for two years, I strongly support this idea. Trash medium foot and amateur cavalry can run around equal to those who have trained for years like they have radios or have been genetically coded, this always bothers me. You hit on the general problem with the game. It's more panzer wa...

@Dux Limitis: if I were you, since the designer said no, I would focus on how to mod my idea. Mods are great to play as you wish and to share your view in a practical way. FoGII community like mods. :-) Such size of mod will take a huge amount of time and will need continuous support when the new v...

Re: Extend the Drilled and the Undrilled traits to the Cavalry and the Medium Foot?
While agreeing that undrilled should be extended to more troop types, I think this would better be implemented via a mod, than imposed on those who disagree, whether from historical or game play perspectives. Similar things have been mod'ed with the anarchy mods already. Regards, Karvon Most of peo...

Re: Extend the Drilled and the Undrilled traits to the Cavalry and the Medium Foot?
From a gameplay perspective, medium foot and cavalry in Ancients are both pretty underpowered for various reasons. Having some unmanoeuvrable versions would make them more useless. We don't really think they are underpowered, only you in this thread came up with this conclusion, so it's unconvincin...

Re: Extend the Drilled and the Undrilled traits to the Cavalry and the Medium Foot?
Some of the medium impact foot are drilled or undrilled, I think. Medium foot already are suffering -1 modifier v heavy foot in the open so I prefer to keep them useful and dangerous with manoeuvrability. As I remember, all of the Medium Impact Foot are drilled currently in the game(e.g. Zealots, S...

Re: Extend the Drilled and the Undrilled traits to the Cavalry and the Medium Foot?
I guess it's pretty unlikely that something this major would be patched in this late in the development but I do like the idea. I wouldn't recommend unmaneuverable as a "default" for the cavalry but there are some that the trait would fit. For example, the Early Cavalry always seemed like...
