Re: How to use cavalry?
Thanks a lot! I am playing "Fall of Assyria" campaign, and it is quite interesting because it forces you to use different armies on each battle, with different strong units I tried something like your advice, long story I won the battle but things went totally different as planned; my stro...

How to use cavalry?
Hi, I like the game, I am playing mostly early eras (Assyrians, Persians) from Rise of Persia expansion I am having trouble finding any use for cavalry or chariots, other than covering my flanks or as leadership units (with general), that means I normally use 3 or 4 cavalry units max. shock and rang...

Re: Always at numerical disadvantage
I would try the echelons, but not with Persia, I think you need good shock troops to try that approach. Persian immortal are good troops, but they won't break a flank quickly enough

Re: Always at numerical disadvantage
Yes I guess my problem was that by picking the Persians, I was by forced into high quality; Iranian cavalry and the Immortals are awesome; while pajama boys (I don't remember their exact name) as good on ranged, while adequate at melee I need to find a good Thracian or Scythian campaign for a horse ...

Always at numerical disadvantage
After maybe 20 battles always at numerical disadvantage, I am wondering if there is a campaign or maybe a faction in which I can have numerical superiority of lower quality troops In my last campaign (Darius), playing as Persia, my army was typically at 28K fighting against 40K enemies, lots and lot...

Re: Open vs closed order Warband
So just to be clear, there is no difference in terms of ranged attack negative? both loose and close will get the same damage by ranged attack?

Open vs closed order Warband
Can someone confirm what are the benefits of closed vs open order Warbands?
I think obviously closed should have better cohesion, be better in hand to hand combat and open order should be less vulnerable to ranged
is there something else? would open order be better in rough terrain?

Re: Newbie question: Hoplites massacred by Warbands
Thanks a lot! I was able to win, with heavy losses I did something equivalent to option 1) I had a longer line (2-unit deep), his main effort was against my right wing, so I enveloped from the left; I was lucky he only brought 2 chariots, which I somehow managed to control with my noble cavalry and ...

Newbie question: Hoplites massacred by Warbands
Hi newbie question: So I just got the game, started the 7 hills (early Rome) campaign. Rome starts with a Greek style Hoplite army; I had no issues beating the 1st battle against Samnites Then 2nd battle is against the Gauls; so my army is basically Citizen Hoplites with a few slingers/ spearmen, a ...
