As one of those inhabiting the lower tables for most of the competition I can confidently say that I did find the system very 'unity'.
You can call a group of 4 bases a battle group or a mega unit but it acts as a single entity and can readily be visualised as a small unit.

A Couple of Questions
I have read through the rules several times now and the following questions arise.
Scythed Chariots.
What happens to these if they get too close to the rear edge to wheel? As far as I can see they must just sit there as they have no other movement options. Rather odd for such a troop type.
